Help please! Unknown leak

I just bought a 2007 cobalt ss and i found a purplish leak on the garage floor. It said low coolant so i filled it up and the leak continued. I got the car jacked up and its coming from the drivers side. Its coming from the bolts on the part where the axle connects to this piece. Im not sure what its called. I can email pictures if someone can help

maybe one of the local Chi-Town guys can help.

If its a 2007 you possibly have power train warranty.
Bring it to the dealer or better yet phone and have your vin # handy and ask the service guy to look the vin up and check for warranty.
Power train has. 5 year 100,000 miles warranty.

Just a FYI ,you can put some of the fluid on your finger and touch it to your tongue ,if it taste sweet it's probably coolant.

I don't know what the tranny fluid looks like in our cars, but the Coolant is red, might be that. Can't tell without a picture of where it's leaking from. You even sai the Coolant was low so I'm going to guess Coolant.

The following page has a nice discussion of different leaks: Oil Filter Guide - Oil Life Monitoring - Dirty Oil Filter | ACDelco

Overall, looks as though a green liquid with thin viscosity would be coolant; red/pink and greasy seems to fall under power steering or transmission.

If I can check into warranties on your car for you, please send me the last 8 of your VIN and I'd be happy to get you more information.

Best,
Sarah

Transmission fluid is a deep red color and is similar in texture to oil. Coolant is a light reddish orange and the same texture as water. Coolant also smells and tastes sweet

I think our cars use the same power steering fluid as they do blinker fluid, so could be from the blinker too.
