HID blackout after rain storm
Just when plans for more mods were starting to take shape, I'm forced to fix stuff now lol, but here's whats up...
So we recently had like a 2 day rainstorm with it coming down pretty hard and yesterday when I was about to leave for home from work, I noticed my headlights weren't on. Weird. I tried switching it from auto mode to low beams to see if that changed anything but it didnt. Still no headlights and just the parking lights on. I got home and popped the hood to inspect my lighting setup which is a H1 mini HID setup from Retrofit source hooked up to a Morimoto relay harness also from Retrofit source. I've been running this setup without any problems since the summer through all kinds of weather and I did all kinds of measures to waterproof it like put the ballasts under the headlight brackets and such. Still I inspected both ballasts and they looked pretty dry to me as well as the connections. But when I looked at my relay module, the sleeve that looks like it was meant to protect the connector going into the module was off and oozing out blue stuff. I took out the relay module, dried it out for a couple of hours in rice and also dried the connector and wiped away the blue stuff coming out of it. Plugged everything back in and still nothing.Does that mean the relay harness is done for and to blame for my headlights not coming on or do I keep searching for something else?

Spent 5 hours on it today and hooked up a new harness I bought. Still nothing. Tested the ballasts directly to the battery and they fired up the lights no problem. I don't want to be running HID's without a harness so I'm just going to take it to a shop tomorrow.

Thats exactly what it was. But it wasn't my relay grounding, it was the main OEM connector grounding. Don't know exactly where that is but I'm just happy to have my headlights back lol /Thread. Thanks for all the responses.

Lol shouldn't have said /thread, because I should have known that with aftermarket HID's, there's always gonna be some kind of problem! I fixed the issue but I thought I would let everyone know.
Well, a week ago my passenger side HID decided that it wasn't going to light up after yet another wonderful rainstorm that we are just lucky enough to be drenched with at this time of year (NOT)... I read somewhere that sometimes it's a power issue and that your passenger side ballast doesn't get enough voltage from the battery and that if you keep the lights OFF (not auto) and then turn them on, that builds enough charge to fire up the passenger side. Guess what? It worked for two more car start ups and then my passenger side HID decided to call it quits for good. So, having some time today to work on the car, I popped the hood and started with swapping out the HID bulb on the passenger side. Nothing. Connected ballast directly to the battery, it worked! So the relay is the problem. I tried a different grounding point for my passenger relay side. Nothing. I looked at the relay connector going TO the ballast and saw some green stuff in between the pins. I thought these things were meant to be waterproof or at least water resistant? I cut the connector, spliced in a new one I took from my old relay harness and Boom passenger side lights up like a beauty again. I looked over all my connections from the relay and decided to do a bit more weatherproofing with the help of electrical tape. Should be good now.
