hids in gen 1 projectors

i am completely stump on how to install this. i had hids on my stock headlights and it was easy to install but i just recieved my new bulbs i ordered and i dont have a clue how to install them. i already searched in the how to section and there is nothing i can find to help me.


i read that the red and black wire are suppose to go to the fuse box but they dont reach over there

I used to have a somewhat similar set up on my Lancer. Then I just bought a new kit with my Cobalt and it just plugged into my factory harness. Plug and Play.

I have no idea man. Sorry

so your hids dont have those wires for positive and negative? i was going to ask you if you wanted to meet up so i can look at your set up but i guess yours is different

H1's are for projectors. The red/black wires connect to the blue/black wires where the bulb inserts into and the plug, plugs into the ballasts...the remaining to plugs connect to the wires comming from the ballast. its 100% plug-n-play.

i know where all the plugs go, i was just stump on the red and black wire

thank you! i knew it was staring right in my face

installed and working, i have a 35 watt ballast, is that good enough or should i upgrade to a bigger watt

55w is to much for our harness. Eventually they will melt.

for the gen 1 headlights do we have to do the anti glare mod cus this morning when i had my hids on , the light output didnt look even and wasnt lighting the road to far down.

Any projectors for the cobalt are not made for HIDs. But they will work.

Mine are the same way, there is like a gap of light right down the middle of the road

There are adjusters on the headlight to aim the projector. You don't move the bulb. You turn a screw like the stock headlights, but projectors can be adjusted both up and down and left and right.

From the thread for aiming 1st gens
The gold adjuster at the bottom is used to adjust the low beam left or right. The silver one on top is used to move the low beam up and down.
