High idle after cleaning throttle body. How do I fix quick?
I just cleaned the throttle body on my 2.4 Ion AT, and the car now idle high 2500-3000rpms. I moved the butterfly, and now I realized that is a big no no. So what can I do to fix this. On old threads I read that the dealer needs to reflash, obviously there has got to be a cheaper and easier fix. What can I do to fix this?
I just cleared a P1400, never had any engine lights until I cleaned the TB. I totally forgot about messing with the plate on these cars.
Sorry for the duplicate in the 2.4 forum, I tried to delete it.

I'll try that this afternoon. I read that disconnecting the battery and pumping the brake 3 times works as well. I'll give that a shot.
I guess that I should have disconnected the connector to the TB, never messing with it again after this. For giggle, I contacted the GM dealer to see how much it would be to reset the idle with a Tec2. $108, lol.
Shouldn't the car relearn the idle on it's own after driving a while? It's not like the ECM has been changed.

Yes, I moved the flap. I totally forgot about this with these cars, previously I always disconnected the throttle body, but I didn't this time.
Disconnected the ground terminal for 10 minutes, and then reconnected and it still does it. WTF? There has got to be an easy fix vs taking it in for a $110 idle relearn.

It's an automatic.
I've just driving it hoping that it's going to relearn but this POS is getting on my nerves. I'm definitely not paying some idiot tech at a GM dealer $110 for 10 minutes of time with a Tec2. Seriously, is there anything that can be done to reset it myself? Such a stupid design for this to throw of the idle.

Good luck.

That seems to be the case, the idle is much better and back to normal. The only fix is driving the car and letting it relearn, or pay an idiot tech at a dealer $110 to force the idle speed immediately. Lesson learned, don't mess with the TB butterfly.
