High RPM After Cleaning Throttle Body

So I cleaned my throttle body today and after reinstalling my car idles at about 2k. I have no idea what's going on, I don't think I have a vacuum leak or anything. Any suggestions?

I don't think it's getting stuck open, it seemed to move smoothly when I was cleaning it. I used WD-40 to clean it, and I drove it for about 15 minutes after I cleaned it and it still has the same problem. So I would think that any leftover WD-40 would be gone.

As for vacuum leaks, what could I have unhooked besides the one hose that is connected to the big plastic intake thing.

The throttle body may not have sealed properly.

did you knock off any other hoses? i.e. the brake booster or something alone the intake?

or maybe something isn't right with the electronics?

yeah i just cleaned my trottle body yesterday and havent had an issue. i unhooked everything too. i would say its a vacuum too. mabye that tube cracked?

did your engine light come on? look for a system too lean error, this usually means you are getting air in the system after the MAF

I checked the throttle body gasket twice to make sure that the unit was sealing against the manifold and it seemed to be fine.

Is there a booster vacuum line, I don't see one.

Yeah I wouldn't have cleaned it with WD40 either. I would have stuck to a carb cleaner.

YOUR FINE!

our throttle bodies are not the most "precision machined" pieces in the world.. if you hold the throttle body up to a light with it off the car and look at the clearance from the blade to the bore you see a small amount of light.

when you clean out all the carbon you clean carbon seal around the plate. so you actually have a small air leak. this is normal and will only last a week or 2 and then after that the carbon will build up again around the opening and seal the tb like normal..

nothing to worry about man

yes i would say from experiance its from the carbon not being there for your TB to seal up 2 and it will go away.... second carb cleaner and tb cleaner are the same thing( most say carb/tb cleaner together on bottle)

If you used paper towel maybe a little piece is stuck between the throttle plate and is holding it open slightly.
The positioner is zeroed soon as you turn the key to start the car and if a hair open will increase the idle .
You could try unhooking the battery to zero all the learned settings in the pcm and see if that helps.

how would that make him idel 2000rpms? that makes no sense. If he bought the car brand new and it idled fine with the intakes "hole" when he bought it new (no carbon build up) than why would that be whats making him idle high? that to me just aint makin sense.
