So I live in England and everybody knows the roads are terrible here. Basically my GPS thought it would be a good idea to take me down an old by-road with like 6 inch pot holes everywhere. By the time I knew that I should get off this road I was already almost half way home so turning back was absolutely pointless. So I'm driving along and all of a sudden BOOM BOOM BOOM I hit like 3 pot holes in a flippin' row and I'm slapping my self in the noggin yelling ****! So in the end I pull into my driveway and get outta my car only to look down and step into a puddle of oil

^- that my friends is stupidity at it's best. Needless to say I will never use that road and possibly that 350 buck tomtom again unless I'm going on a highway.

Now I need to know If this is the oilpan (and yes I know obviously if oil is coming out of it then it's the oilpan BUT I'm not that car literate soooo just lemme know)

where can i find an oilpan and gasket set?

in Jolly good england.. cheapest im guess would be a GM dealer in your area. If you order online you are gonna be killed with shipping. Also not 100% on the gasket. I can rember if the ecotec uses RTV or a actual rubber gasket

Yeah i did a bit more research and yes there is no actual gasket for the oil pan it's just a very high temp RTV solution. I will check my area and look for a GM dealer

Also Is there a difference in the oil pan for the gen2 ecotec's from the gen1's? since mine is an 08 it's a gen2 I don't want a different bolt pattern or anything.

The Ecotec uses RTV for hte gasket. And don't forget to put RTV around the port for the oil pickup or you'll ruin your motor in short order.

you could take the pan down and fiberglass the inside and out for a quick fix i done it with my old chevy tracker and it lasted tell i got the new pan, im sure it would of lasted over a year

What did you hit? Where at? Maybe able to file a claim with them (If your at stock height)
or an insurance road hazard claim.

i used high temp red rtv when i put my turbo one on, any pan will fit, i have a 2.2/2.4 pan on my lsj lol.

my car is as low as the megans will get me. and thanks for the info slowline. rogers i wouldnt even know where to begin.. lol im just going to go to the GM dealer in cambridge to get one ordered

Id sell ya my old one if I could get the damn thing off! I couldn't pry my old one off for the life of me, and I still have the new one that I want to install, with the oil temp bung.

lol just bring it to a shop and have them take it off for like 5 bucks

I dont know of any shop that would take it off for 5 bucks! I mean, they have to take off the right front wheel, then take apart the fender well, It would be at least an hour of labor to remove the oil pan. Of course theyd have to drain the oil as well. Been contemplating takeing it to Rick's and having his shop just swap it out for me, but my car is undrivable right now, as my PCM is in the possession of UPS on its way to ZZP.

you don't need to remove a wheel and you probably missed bolts when you tried to take it off. there are hidden ones on the passenger side of the car. not hidden, but out of clear view. mine took a crowbar to get off, there are i think 2 points for that exact thing.

If some one could show me those EXACT points that would help lots please.

Those bolts your talking about, on the passanger side, I got those, those are the ones I had to take the wheel off to get to, because for some reason I coudlnt get my wrench on them any other way.

Have to use an open end on the passenger bolts. If you just lay under on your stomach and look at the front of the oil pan the pry point is closer to the right i believe. You can't use a screwdriver or anything either has to be a prybar at least in my experience lol. doesn't hurt to take a rubber mallet and flathead around a few spots and tap lightly either.

Ok Thanks, Since you prety much gota change the oil when you change the oil pan (I suopse you COULD drain and re-use the oil if you wanted)
Ill try again next time I change my oil, and do it on a lift instead of jack stands.

yea i just put all new oil in. make sure to wipe the block dry of oil so you don't create any channels for the oil to seep through before you put the other one on also. i used red rtv and have had 0 problems.

Is the OEM oil pan steel or aluminum?
