Did you lose like 1 to 2 MPG?

I lost 1 to 2 on highway when I switched to Amsoil.

Same here I live on the outside of town and my jobs about 25 miles away also on the outside of the other town so my drive is 90% highway.

I guess my Car just likes Mobil 1 better.

Wow this thread is so informative. I have not seen another like it so I am subscribing. Also, all of the recommendations that differ from the manufacturers based on millions of miles of testing seem like great ideas.

I run Amsoil 5W30 in both of my cars.

Just did 10,000 miles with it in the Volkswagen. Sent a sample to Blackstone Labs to be tested. They said it looked great, try 13,000 next time.

I tried a few in the Cobalt. Hated Royal Purple. Mobil 1 is good, but takes second - its just a bit thinner than the rest, and that's what I don't like about it. Amsoil is all it will see after the engine build though. Always seemed to run a tad smoother on Amsoil versus the others.

Anyone changing their oil at anything less than 5,000 miles is just wasting money and good oil. Synthetic Oil has come a long way.

Have your oil tested: http://www.blackstone-labs.com/

When my OLI says to, or once a year. Just like the owner's manual says.

I only use Mobil 1 5W-30.

You don't need 0W30 anymore (not that you needed it that much in NY, anyway). You should switch back to 5W30.

The Zero only plays its part on start up. Once the oil starts heating up, it moves to 30.

You want better fuel economy, bump up your low end timing. I ran 1 metric ass ton of timing. Helped a lot.
