Issue with O2 sensor and wet intake

I just went to the dealer because my CEL was on and my friends equipment couldn't find what it was.

The dealer told me 2 things were wrong with my car: the rear O2 sensor (after cat converter) was bad and needed to be replaced and my wheel well liners were missing (like that when i got the car) so my stock air filter was getting wet.

According to this thread the O2 sensor that I have out doesn't really matter:

From what i just read above would it be safe to assume that i would be fine without spending the $340.05 to replace the sensor???

And as for the liners im just going to buy:
07 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt Inner Fender Well - Body Mechanical & Trim - Action Crash, Left - Driver Side, Right - Passenger Side - PartsGeek

OR

GM Parts Direct: 15289944 - LINER

Just to be safe and itll help protect my injen when i reinstall it

$340 to replace the secondary o2 sensor? It'll take you 5 minutes, provided the current sensor wants to come out. $10 for o2 sensor remover tool, maybe $100 for the sensor.

To answer your question, secondary o2 sensor will not affect performance. It'll just throw a code, and your DIC MPG rating will go down, but that's it.

Fender liners look fine. Get a hydro shield for your air filter as well.

Thanks. That's what I wanted to hear. Once i get those liners I'll put on the Injen again and the hydroshield. Screw the O2 sensor

Yeah im learning how to deal with the dealer. First time owning my own car. After i learned i couldve spent significantly less than $700 for the stock intake ive been much more wary of letting the dealer handle things.

As for the wheel well i tried all my local junkyards. They all said they didn't have any cobalts.

Just laying around you say?

OUCH. $700 for the plastic hunk of junk? Damn.
They usually go around $80 to $120ish shipped on these forums.
ZZP 3" intake would've costed you $220 shipped brand new from them, and is probably the best intake for the LSJ, which is what I'm assuming you have.

check car-part.com for those liners just to make sure. No need to buy brand new ones, unless you absolutely have to.

Yeah I still have nightmares.

Actually when i got the car it came with an Injen.

I got the liners from rockauto.com for like 12 each so not bad.

Not bad at all. I actually forgot about rockauto. Good thing you looked.

Other places for OEM parts I would remember are Crate Engine Depo, GM Parts Direct, and you already know Rock Auto.
Then car-part.com for anything used around your area.
