Oil coolers leak the other way, oil into the coolant. Oil pressure is always higher than coolant pressure.

They do fail, but you'll have slimy oil filled coolant and clean oil.

I just read this whole thread because I just had to add a little coolant to my car and I can't find any visible leaks. I'm not getting a good feeling about it.

It's just a top-off. You're fine.

Hopefully but I think I had to add some 6 months or so ago. Time will tell I guess.

If you're really worried about it then get a sample and send it to Blackstone labs. They'll tell you if you have an issue.

That's my plan when I change the oil again. Unfortunately I just changed it like 500 miles ago.

You can get a sample before then. Just be careful opening the drain plug. Or waiting would be good to get more data.

Update: The sealer they put in has stopped the leak completely! I've drove the car about 500 miles I'd say and I've had to add absolutely no coolant it's still full right where I filled it up too.

The sealer they used was Solv-Tec ST5501 K Seal Permanent Coolant Leak Repair.

Here's a link to it on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/K-Seal-ST5501.../dp/B001QT9KO6

Thanks !

I read this thread. I have a similar problem with my 06 lsj SS supercharged.

My car has 362k and car runs great with no leaks. No coolant in the pan but maybe a little in the valve cover because it has a bit of a film on the cap. At this point I just want the car to last as long as possible. I’m going to try this leak stop and see if that helps. Some days I drive 300 miles and lose no coolant. Other days I have to top it off after 100 miles.

thanks for posting this saga. Lol
