Just ranting about the lying GM service people.
OK, so I install an AEM CAI (and nothing else so far) on my 2.4 back in July I drive over 1400MI with my car and then all of a sudden my traction control keeps shuting off. The T/C light and the check engine light go off when this happened so so take the car to the dealer to get it fixed. They then call me back to tell me that they needed to order a new traction control modulator but that wasnt why the check engine light was going off. They then proceeded to tell me that the light was going off because of the intakem, gave me a code number and said the car is not cappable of having any different airflo than it gets stock......and because the check engine light came on from "my intake" I had to pay to have the light turned off ($95.00). Also I coulndt pick up my car unless I payed for it. So I called GM's service center, got nowhere. Right now I have an appointment to take it to another GM dealership that told me what happened was BS to get a second opinion. After that I will see if the dealership will refund my money and if not I will see what happenes from there. I jsut wanted to let you know about my issue incase anyone else had been screwed in anyway as well. I will also keep you posted as to how everything works out.

Take the dealership to small claims court saying you did not want the service they provided, because where I work at if the customer doesn't sign to everything we do before we do it, it doesn't get done.

you probably where just setting a lean code and that's why they charged you, they where mainly being dicks from what it sounds like, I doubt you will get your money back though

Ok, so I have since gone to another chevy dealer where the head mechanic and the GM for the dealership both told me the other place screwed me. Still taking this one step at a time though. It's the princible over the cost really.

There may have been an intake code stored in the computer but the T/C light going on most likely would have set a code as well. So they needed to scan it regardless.
If they were acting in good faith, they should not have charged you.

Yea there just fucked up greedy ******! At my dealer we always let you slide in that case. Just saturday I warrentied a MAF sensor on a 05 Tiburon with a CAI in which the kid fucked up one of the filements in the sensor. I just told him to be more careful next time because he will have to pay.

most shops have a clause that if anything $25-$30 over the original qouted repair cost they have to authorize it thru you before they can do it... id check the stealership paperwork on estimated cost vs actual cost allowence...

If you took it in there for a CEL and it was related to the CAI they have a diagnosis fee right? It's pertty common for a CAI to set a CEL, just check the boards. I guess if your work order states something about the CEL and you signed it in order to get it diagnosed then your on the hook.
Does the 2.4 even have a MAF?

Justo took my car to another dealership the otherday and they had no idea what to say. They took my car and basicly pounded on it and couldn't get a code or anything to throw so they said they really had no idea what to do seeing how they can't find a problemwith my airflow. I also catch wind that the other dealership has stated that the type of CAI I put on my car "AEM" Is not ment for a car like that and is going to destroy the entire engine and that I am so stupid for putting something that dangerous on my car. I am reallly starting to think that the guys at Northstar Chevy in Clifton Park NY get there Mechanical training from HOTWHEELS!!! LOL

I can't stand seeing this crap over and over....is there some sort of anti-fun jihad goin on with dealerships everywhere?? I haven't really done any mods yet, but more and more I'm starting to think that I'm gonna be screwed big time when I do. I understand the whole not makin money doing warranty repairs crap...and of course makin money is what they're in for an all....but I also think sometimes they just either don't know what they are doin or don't wanna get off their lazy asses and work. I'm still gonna mod and hopefully I'll get lucky and find a dealer reasonably close to me that aren't asshats about havin a lil fun. Anyways, sorry to unload here...just needed to rant.

For anyone in the Maryland area my dealership, Miller Brothers Chevrolet in Ellicott City is one who will not dick you around. The service manager may be hard but he is very fair.
If you have a problem and the tech can't 100% prove for fact that your mod caused it then its covered under warrenty.
Just thought you might like to know thats how they all are supposed to be as per GM. If you find a **** service department they are acting on thier own and not as instructed by GM. You could call GM's customer care hot line and make a formal complaint about them.
Yes this does hurt them cause if they have a certain # of complaints the dealer loses its bonus money. And the owner and general manager do not like to lose money.
