Key not turning forward at times, and does not release from ignition
Hey all, I have a 2006 Ion 3 sedan 2.4 Automatic Transmission that I recently purchased, and I am having problems at times with the key not releasing from the ignition when shutting the key off. This morning I encountered a problem where I could not turn the key forward at all. The wheel was not turned at all, but after wiggling the steering wheel back and forth, I was finally able to start the car. This is annoying to deal with on a daily driver, so I want to get this fixed with without having to dump a lot of money into the car.
Obviously, it seems it's related to the lock cylinder, who knows what else.
I don't know if this car has had all of the ignition switch recalls done, but does this seem like it's related to the ignition switch and lock cylinder recall? I'm hoping that GM will replace it all under recall.
If not, what do you all think could be the problem?

That sounds like what happened to mine several years ago - ignition cylinder fell apart and had to be replaced. Was under warranty so it was free. This was before the recall.
FYI - in case you dont know, you can usually release the stuck key by reaching up under the middle of the steering wheel and depressing a small button thats to the left in the opening.
