Low oil pressure?

I am trying to track down a engine noise I have and since everything thats ticking related is going to be oil related im going to start there.

I have a 03 2.2 l61 in my cav. I have a oil pressure sender in the port on the side of my head. If it matters its the back port of the 2.

When cold my oil pressure is 60-80 psi depending on how cold it is out there.

But when its hot in the summer and im idling its almost zero, according to the gauge. As soon as I hit the gas it goes up to about 10 psi, and when driving is about 10-15psi.

Is this normal for this oil sender location?

The noise im getting is not a tensioner noise. (ive changed the tensioner and inspected the timing set for issues) Its about half speed of the motor and only makes noise at about 1300rpm, with a slight tick at idle. The noise gets a little better once its warmed up but its always there for the most part warm or cold.

Im sure its fine. But im trying to reduce the variables. The motor only has 143,xxx km on it and very very clean on the inside. Im almost positive its a lifter as its been making the noise for over a year now.

IIRC there is an oil pressure restricter in those heads and its a bad spot to get a pressure reading from. Relocate the sender to the oil galley on the block.

does ur oil pressure light come on? if it doesn't come on when ur gauge is reading that low either ur sender is done or ur in a bad spot on the head, like the lnf reads lower on head. put the sender in the block

No...I dont care where I get the pressure from. Head was just easier. To do the block I have to remove my starter.

One, did you even read my post?
Two, you can put it in the back of the motor because there are galleys on both sides.

Didnt see that.

Ill take a look at the back of the motor. Wouldn't all that heat from the header be bad for the sender?

I have mine back there on my LSJ and it is an electrical sending unit.
