mechanics, i have a question.

if you didnt see my other thread i ended up putting plugs in my car that cant be run in a supercharged car and the end of it melted. when i took it out the it stripped the threads in the head, im in the process of removing the head, but i was wandering if i could use one of the thread repair kits and remove the little pieces of aluminum off of the top of the piston with a shop vac. otherwise ill do like i was going to do and remove the head and take it to the machine shop.

I would take the head off and take it to a machine shop. You COULD use an air powered vaccum with a small enough hose to go into the cylinder and suck up all the pieces, but there would really be no way of knowing you got ALL of the pieces.

Better off going with your first Idea. R&R the head and let the machine shop take a look at it.

Another good thing about removing the head is you get to inspect everything under it and make sure you didn't do MORE damage than you think.

ha i just snapped a plug off in an older f150, never pulled a head, used a left hanf drill bit, drilled it, narrowed a vaccume down to a straw sucked everything up, used my bore scope to see if their were any shaveings put a helicoil in it and wala. Probably not the best way but it was an old plow truck with 180000 rounds on it and the dude didnt want to spend much.
