My Car Randomly turns off!!
I saw a post on here before about someone saying their car shut up once when their knee hit the steering column, and It's happened to me a few times. However, my car has turned off twice randomly without me hitting it. One time was at an autocross, and it almost caused a huge problem. It happened again the other night. All the guages turn off, and the engine shuts off. I have to put it in neutral and try to start it like 4 times. The last time it did it, the coolant was at 215*F, so I know it didn't overheat.
I don't know what to do, I'm taking it to the dealer tomorrow to see what they say, but I know they will say 'we couldn't duplicate the problem'
any ideas?

**** what if your goin 120km/h and your car shuts off? wonder if you would just keep rolling to a stop or if the engine wouldnt allow movement so the car goes into brake mode... and if the car is off will the airbags work. having the car turn off randomly certainly is one of the worst things to happen...

You were auto-Xing - what was your indicated fuel level?
For now I would remove, clean and reinstall the ground located underneath the intake pipe (2.0L) on the LH frame rail just behind the LH headlamp (G103) there's been some of these loose causing various intermittent engine issues (stalling being one of them)

BTW> on ALL GMs the IGN must be "ON" in order for the Airbag Control Module (SDM) to have sufficient IGN+ power to be able deploy the airbags. (other oems may be different - I only work with GM products)

I've had this happen to me a couple of times to. it was after I had a dyno done. the dealer just reflashed my comp. but I sometimes get a flicker from my dash lights in the car, under regular driving?

havent had the stall problem but a similar issue has been occuring with my boost gage. both problems are most likely a wiring issue, something loose somewhere or getting rattled around. y'alls problem is major though. the dealership and Gm should look into it bcause it sounds dangerous if it happens on the highway in traffic.

im gonna answer a bunch of questions at once here
when it try to restart, there is nothing, almost like the engine is too flooded to start. But, I've been really panicked to start it again, so I havent paid much attention, it does not sound like its cranking over at all.
When I was autocrossing I had a full tank of gas
I went to the dealership, and told em the problem, and I said its so random, they wont be able to reproduce the problem. He said there was a recall on the steering column, and a reflash would solve it too.
The dealership said they 'couldnt duplicate the problem', so they did nothing about it. I was pissed, I wasted a day dropping and picking the car off, especially cuz I told em they wouldnt be able to duplicate it.
I've almost gotten into an accident with this. You lose steering and brake power, it's really dangerous....

OK, I ran into this with a SS/SC, a customer of mine and a member of this Forum. Here is what I found.
His engine would shut off for no reason, would not crank when turning key and his gauges also went out, including the boost gauge. With the Tech 2 I had no communication with some modules, the PSCM was one, I forget the others. I traced the power source for these components to be fed by an IGN 1 feed at the BCM fuse block in the passanger compartment. If you remove the access panel on the passanger side of the center console, you will see the BCM and fuses. There is also a harness connector there that is red, if I remember right. On the upper right corner you will see a Red and White wire, Pin D12, that feeds the power to the components that are effected. With the engine running or just the key in the run position with engine off, grab the wire and move it around and in and out while watching the dash lights. If they flicker you found the problem.
Give it a shot, like I said, it fixed the car I had, which was also at another Dealer several times, where they could not find anything.

This same thing happend to me last night. when I turned a corner my entire car went dead, all power everything, headlights, stereo, steering all turned off.
I found out that the reason was my battery was not grounded properly. When I tightend the bolt on the negative terminal the car has been fine ever since.
I would suggest u check your battery.
