well part of diagnosing is potentially removing parts that you tampered with, which means just pull the door cup and just unplug the switches. that rules them out as a short.

if you want thats up to you, are you within warranty, and what was he doing that caused that. have you had any other symptoms before this where lights weren't working and the only wiring i know of under the seat that has a connector is for the seat presence sensors

Definitely consult the diagrams for all your fuses that are within your manual that came with the car. Your fuse that goes to all your interior lights will be in the kick panel after you open up the drivers side door. Possibly another idea is that one of your switches is bad. Maybe inside one of the detents is bad from taking them in and out. If so try to locate another switch if all else fails and use them in the place of each old switch one at a time to narrow it down to which switch is bad.
Quickest way to troubleshoot anything is to look where you last changed or moved something. Usually 9 times out of 10 you will find your problem. I have many years of working with aircraft wiring - Trust me...I wouldn't steer you wrong. Good luck man and I hope you figure this out soon.
When you do let us know what you found please.

underline= the switch works for the windows, but the lights dont work. none of my interior lights work other than the map lights on the rear view.
bold and underline= i was going to get a new switch anyways and have been trying for 2 weeks to get one as it wouldn't light up some times, and other times it would.
red= i am definatly going to make another thread about this once it gets solved so that if anyone ever has this problem in the future, they will know what to do based on my experience.

Bcm Fuse #27 ,10 Amps,Labled INT LIGHT
This fuse feeds a relay on the Bcm that controls the int lights labled the
same
INT LIGHT PCB Relay
The relay could also be your problem
If the fuse checks out good ,replace the door swiches first becaause you probably buggered the circut board and the voltasge is being pulled down causing the light not to work.

Now you say the switch has been working intermittently for a couple weeks. it's stuff like this that makes it hard to diagnose problems. There is definitly a short but you also have to check the wiring from the switch to the door and where it goes through to body. You may have damaged the wiring one of the other times you removed switch by pulling the wires or slicing into them against a sharp piece of metal and that is why it hasn't been working properly for the last few weeks. The fuse should have blown to protect the wiring since it is factory wiring but even if it doesn't blow again when you replace it there is still a short lurking in your wiring. Tracing shorts can be very time consuming if you have never done it before but you don't want to just ignore it even if everything seems ok when you replace the fuse. Having you lights go out when driving at night or frying your wiring is no joke.

i found another glitch today, im definatley thinking the BCM now, but the other things aren't ruled out yet. when i was driving to school this morning, i switched to my CD and so it went through a song, then on song 2 it kept skipping through the song. it wuold skip for about 30 secs of the song, then stop and go normally, then skip for 30 more secs. my song went from about 5 mins long to 2 lol. it only did it one the one song though, and i checked the disc and it is mint. it never skipped on that song before either

ok so i FOUND THE PROBLEM AND FIXED IT! turns out it was a fuse. but it wasn't a fuse in the passenger kick panel. it was the parking light fuse under the hood. last night when i was driving, a guy in a r8 pulled up beside me, so my cousin gave him a thumbs up for his car, and he rolled down his window, so i rolled mine down and he told me that my tail lights weren't on. so i got up this morning, pulled out my manual and checked it and it led me to the fuse. i used one of the spare ones sitting there and everything works now except for my drivers door switches, they still dont light up. thanks for the help guys
