Need Help Please Anyone

So I think I have a clogged cat. Been running ruff the last couple of days. Engine light on, exhaust doesn't sound right. Problem is today it sounds like there is no exhaust at all. Hard to stay running etc. Is the cat clogged completely and possible blown flex pipe? Any help would be great.. thanks in advance. 2006 Cobalt ss 2.0 supercharged!! Forgot the car was overboosting also!!

Definitely a clogged cat if stock bring it into the dealer there was an extended 10 year 120k mile warranty on them. Don't drive it hard, be easy on it and just get it to them.

Will a modded airbox hurt the warranty? Will they charge me if for some reason the warranty wont fix it? 94,000 miles.. thanks man for the reply

It can't hurt to take it in and see. I doubt just a modded airbox would void it. Only 94k would fall into the warranty period.

I doubt they'll even look at the airbox, given the extended warranty and known issues that point to a clogged cat

yeah dont even mention the airbox. its great that they warranty these things; the bill would have been about 900 when i had to get it done way back when

****, op if they want to charge you for it, pm me. I've got a stock lsj downpipe with 300miles on it I'll sell you for much less than a dealer. I bought it from a friend for my old base model, but I bought an LNF instead of boosting the base

bolton's do not void warranties

replace the cat and there was also a recall on the cat

While you are there mise well have them do the latest ignition recall as well.

So the dealership called me stating that the cat is fine.. They said that they drove it around to see what it was doing and it all checked out.. but there was seven different codes.. one is the cam sensor said the timing chain was hitting the front cover.. and the other was intake and ecm reset.. The last one was for a thermostat swap.. roughly 1700.00 dollars... my question is why the overboosting, lack of power.. and my exhaust sounds it was tore off? Thanks guys

List the codes, if they don't give you the codes don't believe them.

P0017 Crankshaft Position (CKP) - Exhaust Camshaft Position (CMP) Correlation - ECM, PCM
P0833 Clutch Pedal Switch 2 Circuit -PCM
P0442 Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System Small Leak Detected -ECM, PCM
P0341 Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor Performance -PCM
P0300 Engine Misfire Detected -PCM
P0128 Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Below Thermostat Regulating -PCM
P0171 Fuel Trim System Lean -PCM

you may have caused the p0017 by pulling the cps housing of the head and not retiming upon reinstallation so if that is the case here is how you fix it

if that doesn't fixit then the engine is out of time and will need retimed so I would just go ahead and replace the chain and then that should take care of both 17/341 codes the evap could be gas cap the 171 could be a vacuum leak the rest should be self explanatory

So where do I start I guess is my question? Am I looking to replace the timing chain or etc? THanks guys

Ohh gotcha.. sorry! Yes me and my friend changed it boy it was a pain.. One more thing the Chevy dealer said he thought the timing chain was hitting the cover causing the code.. is that possible? Thanks you have been great man!!

it wont hit the cover but it will hit the block if you have a broken chain guide and if there is enough slack it will change the cam timing and cause a correlation code

Would you still start at the cps first? or get to the timing chain?

if you retimed the housing correctly I would get a timing kit from C.E.D and replace it all

Ok so I read up on my previous post we had changed the crankshaft position sensor not the camshaft position sensor. Where is located at?
