New 09 SS totaled?? :(
I just got my car 2 months ago and it was rear ended when it was parked. The car was going at least 30 mph. The guy hit and ran, but we caught him 15 mins later.Today, I got a call and was told that there is 11k worth of damage and they are not done yet... i still owe 21k and they said if the damage exceeds 17k they will declare it total. And i dont have gap...idk what to do..any suggestions?? Thanks

Both my Cobalts took this type of hit in Oct 07. Neither came close to being totalled. You should be fine. Both of my SS's were parked in front of my house when some lady took a turn to hard and spilled her coffee. When she went to get it she turned into my 07 SS/NA sedan and caused over $12k damage. The SS/NA was also forced into the back of my 06 SS/SC and caused another $5,500 damage. You'll be fine. The total for repairs will not go that much higher. Don't get me wrong. It'll still go up, but not that much. For the 07 SS/NA repairs included a new rear left 1/4, rear door, and a whole new rear axle assembly. Plus, the paint was 29U (sport red tint). That brought the cost of paint up about $300 more. I wouldn't worry about your car too much. But, let this be a lesson to get GAP from now on.

Yea the total damaged was 12k+. Thanks I'm not worried at all now, i just worried that the car would not perform as well as it did before. but as long as i dont have to pay for the damaged im ok. yea but im considering gap now...lol

Consider this. Those estimates usually come in a little low (basically because they can't tell the full extent of the damage and it rarely works out that something they thought would be damaged was as actually ok). So I can see that 11k bill coming out to 12-13. Even at 11 grand, I would buy the car, strip it, and buy myself another low mileage car. I'd much rather find a used low mileage car than one with that level of damage. That type of damage will also usually show up on a carfax and lower it's resale value as well. Tons of stuff to sell on a 2 month old TC....engine/tracks, brakes/suspension, wheels/tires, sounds like someone is already calling dibs on the seats I've seen low mileage SS TC's asking as low as 16-17k.
