noise when turning key to on but not starting car
Theres a loud noise coming from my car when i put the key to the on position so. Sounds like a fan to me? Idk im not a mechanic but I believe it started yesterday when I was picking my gf up after work. While the car was on I would hear like a whistling noise or a loud hissing when stopped but it kinda went away when I was driving. Few hours later when I was going to leave home I hear this noise and it sounded pretty bad so I decided not to turn the car on and just push it to the side so I could take the truck. I will upload a video in a second just trying to find something to record with.

Please post video.. Also figure out where the noise is coming from. My first thought was the fuel pump since that buzzes when it primes in the on position. Diagnose where its coming from.

it really sounds like its coming from the fan or ic pump? not sure but its somewhere in the front of the car. I tried to get the phone as close to the noise as possible. Its a short video though because I got scared when it started making like sputtering type of noises...uploading now

actually, he mentioned the noise would continue while driving. Doesn't eliminate the starter, but I wouldn't point my finger only at that. If you're nearby a mechanic shop or even O'reilley, see if they can test your battery, starter, and alternator. If those check out okay, then it's possible you're fuel pump is crapping out. You would need someone to check your fuel trims to make sure. Do you have a wideband as well?
