I don't know what you mean by permanent, but if you disable the code, it is hidden. It will no longer will exist, unless you go back in and enable it.

alright well in some 2009 models and all 2010 and newer models have a new DTC type Permanent DTC Which can not be cleared by a code scanner or disconnecting the battery, the only way to get a Permanent DTC to go away is fixing the problem or im guessing it not seeing that code reapear again in the system

So in theroy sence i have the codes already disabled and they will not appear in the system, after a set ammount of time the permanent DTC should go into DTC history. i was hoping some one has delt with this bs before but im guessing im one of the frist

I will check but it seems to me that if a code is deleted then the emissions check which interrogates the PCM throught the OBD2 port will fail as the DTC wll not be there to indicate that it is `ready`IF its not ready you fail.

i wish i knew more on how it worked but it "seems" that the permanent DTC's work like i/m monitors and have to do Tests to say there ready. i have seen with i/m monitors you can delete/disable the code and it will still say its ready after running its tests.. i just hope the permanent DTC work the same way and arent on a sub lvl where deleting the codes dont work

if i had a copy of hp tuners your can manual set the i/m monitors to say there ready

heres a update no matter how much i drive or how i drive it i cant get the codes to clear. i think theres a sprate system just for emissions, ill leave all the emission codes disabled and replace the purge solenoid and the o2 if the codes clear then in all 09 and up models have a seprate system for emissions. it will be a good thing to know if you wanna mod a newer car

Update - after heading back from advanced i pluged in my ob2 scanner to check my readiness monitors and my o2 monitor said it was ready even though i still have a permanit po420 dafuk?

Uhhhhh what? Permanent DTC's? Couldn't you just flash a stock 2007 tune on a 2010 ECU,open your waste gate and run 0 boost until you get a pass on the test? If you wanted to go that far. I don't know what to tell you. Go to a garage with a younger guy or a sketch garage, throw them $20-40, and call it a day.

We have an "unconditional pass" here. If the cost to repair is over $450 you get a free pass BUT you can't sell the car until the issue has been resolved.

We can get a waiver here. You have to spend $200 in parts "trying to fix the problem".

Well i stoped in at the gm dealership i bought the car from and they said it take 40 drive cycle to remove a permanent code so with a drive cycle being 30 min or less, i would have to keep doing drive cycles back to back for around 20 hours. i could drive from north east ohio all the way down to key west florida in 21 hours, so if you wanted to do a 20 hour drive cycle you would use around 62 gallons of gas at my 23 avg mph and it cost would cost $219.00 at $3.52

In my case i only drive to work this time of year so i could do a full drive cycle on the way there and back it would take 20 days if there wasnt any traffic. so if you or someone you know has a 09+ tell them what expect
