oil cooler ss/sc

i recently bought a 2006 cobalt ss/sc and its already in the garage.. it is having problems with the oil cooler leaking i havent heard from the garage he said it may need a new one but he also said they were 900 bucks so he was going to see if he could delete it out of the system or whatever. i live in new york so it doesnt get very hot here should i replace it or just let him get it deleted out of the system and not worry about it? it would also be awesome if someone could make a how to thread so i could give it to him it would be much appreciated! he is really good with cars but i have the only cobalt ss/sc in the area so this is a first for him. i know my buddy has a stage 3 srt-4 and he deleted his oil cooler. he said i should be fine but a turbo and supercharger work diffidently to my knowledge anyways so idk if its ok to run my car without one..

I would recocmend do NOT delete the oil cooler. Ive watched my oil temps occasionally, and there is a bypass for the oil cooler already there based on tempature. Once oil temp reaches a set amount, it will open the valve alowing the oil to circulate through the oil cooler. Ive seen my oil get up to 200F, even on days that were in the 70s. Even in the winter when your car warms up, it may still need that oil cooler. In the summer, even if its only say 70 degrees out, you'll need your oil cooler. I can tell when my oil cooler starts working becuase Ill see my oil temp start to drop.

For the sake of your LSJ do NOT delete your oil cooler.
