oil filter caved in?
so i recently changed my oil about 2 weeks ago. when i popped out the filter, it was caved in in the middle. like it was trying to be twisted. well, i threw another one in to see if it happened again and sure enough when i checked it today, BAM. it did the same thing. any idea on what would cause this? is it just crappy filters? or anything else possible.

The acdelco is the same filter as the STP from autozone the Super Tech from walmart and very close to the Mobil 1 oil filter without being for the long change intervals. All of the filters I listed are made one the same line in York, SC.

A) wrong filter. B) the bypass hole is not functioning. C) if a used vehicle, possible some one replaced the oil pump with a high volume or high pressure pump to hide something.

You need to snap the filter into the cap and then install it as one unit. If you just throw the filter in then tighten the cap chances are its not seating or snapping into the cap correctly and crushing it. I had this happen on a Delco and a Wix both quality filters before I figured it out.

never go wrong w OEM, cus if u do, its on THEM. but, K&N is a nice piece=no problems. I had a collapse 1ce, ns exactly which might've been fram...on top of the fact oiling problem causes catastrophic failure, it also scratches things, and in my opinion just as bad, its also causes management problems pcm looks @ oil press for various thngs...

If you compare any media type filter to the AC Delco, after and before using on these cars specifically, you will notice quite a few differences. AC Delco is the only one that doesn't cav, and it's also the only one with proper inner holes and chambers.
The oil filter wrinkled like that, is really nothing more than the weight of the oil it's absorbed, in combination with heat. But just stick with the AC Delco.
