Question ok im sick of this

Ok I'm sick of this,
Am I doing something wrong? Or is something wrong with ym car? I dont have alot of experiance with driving a manual.

Anyways,
When shifting into second gear (Even if I shift at 3500rpm, though its less) If I dont let out the clucht rather slowly the car lurches when I get on the gas.

It's NOT Wheel hop,
and I DO have a ingalls torque stabalisor bar

So what gives ? If I let out slowly and slowly get into the gas, it doesnt jerk as much.. Only seems to do it in second though.

Is it my driving? Is something wrong? Is it just a quirk of the car?

I had the exact same issue ur having when i first got the cobalt. It's cuz the electric throttle is ungodly touchy in these damn cars. You'll get the hang of it, you just need to ease out on the clutch a little easier and dont press down on the gas pedal as hard. When I taught my girl how to drive my car, she did the exact same **** ur describing here. It's not that ur a bad driver tho...it's that the cobalt is a touchy ****** car for ppl who aren't used to it lol

Touchy is an understatement. I can be poking through a parking lot and if i hit a hole i didn't see and my foot just slightly bounces the throttle it jumps the car and I feel like a huge idiot.

Oh yeah it did it today when I was stopping to get a drink at the gas station. I was driving through the parking lot hit a hole that made the car bounce and made my foot blip the throttle which jerked the car forward for a sec. Felt really stupid for a couple minutes.

Happens if you just shift into 2nd at low RPMs and create tons of load straight off the bat. Take it easy into 2nd.. You CAN control it. It's not the car.

ive found it helps alot if you let yours revs drop down to about 1500 before you start letting the clutch out. but its fun sometimes to use it when your gf is putting on makeup

Meh, it's not his shifting (within reason). Lots of LSJ's have this problem, especially with CAI, mine did and a couple buddies too. I used to hate it. Not sure why but 06's seem to have this more than the 05's and 07's.... Its one of the main differences between the LNF and LSJ as far as refinement goes, the shifting is MUCH smoother.

In the case of mine and my buddies LSJs, I was able to get 'smoother' shifts by:

1) Gapping the plugs properly, if I recall correctly stock gap is .042. Inspect them too. I went one step colder but that was cause of my mods.
2) Clean and inspect your MAF.
3) Clean and inspect your filter.
4) Clean and inspect your TB.
5) Clean and inspect the injectors.
6) Reset the ECU.
7) Put in no less that 91 (I run 94) octane from a respectable company.

Thats about as good as it will get without tuning. I would highly suggest logging.

No the LNF is no where close the LSJ, having driven an LSJ for almost 4 years and 2 years with an LNF it's just not the same at all. What you are describing is perfectly normal for a car that makes the tq of the lnf. You need to experience this chug a lug/lurch in the lsj, it's different, but easily curable.

Learn to drive. You need to let the RPM's drop to the new second RPM's before letting the clutch out. Pretty standard driving technique.

He said " it lurches when I get ON the gas. "

The clutch is already out.... I believe him when he says its not his shifting since I have dealt with the same issue on a couple lsj'. The fact his is an 06 with a CAI make it even more probable. With that being said, it's very easy to fix and not any sort of 'defect' etc on the lsj.

I highly suggest logging this tho.

Re-read first post. He said it lurches UNLESS he let's out the clutch slowly.
