p2261
Hey guys, my car has been throwing a p2261 code that only seems to pop up when I am cruising at a steady throttle for an extended period of time like if I'm on the highway. Vacuum lines check out ok. Anyones else with an ss/sc have this problem? I've searched but got no real answer.

Looking at a diagnostic chart for p2261 it looks like it can only be 2 things. A sticking bypass valve actuator or a Boost control solenoid that stops working when it heats up possible. I would check the the valve mechanical parts for anything sticking or possible broken. If all is ok with that disconnect the hose from the valve that goes to the control solenoid and hook a vacuum gauge to it. Start the car and it should read 0inHg. If you have any vacuum the Control valve is stick open and need to be replace. To continue testing unfortunately you will need a scanner that can command the control solenoid on. If you don't have that you may be able to T into the vacuum line with an adapter and extra hose and I would secure the vacuum gauge to the windshield and see if it shows vacuum while driving. I believe while you are driving you should have some kind of vacuum being applied most of the time.
I hope this helps.
