Passenger side clunking
OK...i was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction with this one. There is an extremely loud clunking coming from the front passenger side of my car. It is especially noticeable when the car is cold. It happens with I hit bumps...even small ones. I don't think it is my strut. Some one said my sway bar but when i get under my car i don't really know where i am to look. I know where my sway bar is but what am i looking at when i climb under my car... Any other possiblilities that could cause the clunk?

It's most likely the sway bar link, it connects the sway bar to the strut. Something goes bad with it, not sure what it is but I've had both sides of mine replaced twice. Good luck.

my man.. that was the biggest prob with my balt for like 7 months.. i finally took it in to ge tit looked at ..well long story short.. shock is blown 100%.. and depending on how long its been like that and how many bumps uve ripped thru.. ur sway bar linkage is prob bent pretty badly too..
theres a test u can do to see if its a blown shock.. put ur hands right on the car where the strut tower is and push down as hard as u can and then just let it bounce... afte ru push it down ..if it bounces right back up with no more movement then ur shock isnt blown.. but afteru push on it and it like bounces twices and keeps wabbling like a slinky ...blown shock..
do it to the one that isnt fuked and ull see the difference in the way it absorbs ur push

I've reported the clunking to the dealers I've dealt with several times. Over the course of five visits or so they've replaced sway bar links, control arm bushings, and about 2,000 mi ago.... the whole steering column.

Common problems in these Cobalts are the Axles ,Lower control arm bushings or steering column .
Its probably the lower control arm bushing if I was going to guess.
Mine where replaced do to a clunking noise.
But what wasnt replaced on my Lemon 06 ss\sc.
These cars are full of flaws and problems , just plan out junk cars period.
