Possible argument with Stealership??? Help!
Hey guys, need your opinions before I go and argue with the stealership. I have H&R Sport springs installed on my car which I realize voids the warranty of they are found to be the cause of any damage to my suspension. Lately I've been getting a pop noise when I turn, and so I bring it to the stealership and they say you've got a seized strut mount bearing (proper name?) but it's not warranty because you have aftermarket springs.... blah blah blah... I don't believe you... I'm not very mechanically inclined, but if my written invoice says "seized bearing" i'm going to argue and here's why:
if the bearing was beat up or banged up or something, sure, I don't know if the spring could actually cause that but they could argue that the people who put my springs on beat it up or whatever.... but if it is a "seized bearing" then the spring can't cause that... that's seized... not beat up, not broke because of my spring, it's seized... that's warranty. They would not be able to prove my spring broke this.
So do you guys think i have an arguement or am i stuck payin?

I don't see how you could possibly think that the springs could NOT have possibly caused this. It's not a "resonable doubt" kind of thing, this isn't criminal law. There's a decent chance the springs caused the issue, hence, you're probably going to have to pay.
You can push it further, but chances are it's a battle you won't win and after you pay a lawyer and court fees, you're probably going to end up paying 10x or more what you would have if you just had them fix it.

For one I'm not a "dude" and for two, you seemed bent on arguing your way out of this because you felt that there was no possible way springs would cause a seized bearing. If the dealer has already said no, we won't cover it, usually your only course of further "argument" is through a lawyer. I don't put it past people on here, it's happened before.

yeah, I just paid... I brought it to the service guy's attention and he said there's no guarantee the spring caused it but it's a possibility and since i can't prove it didn't i had to pay, so i didnt argue i just paid hahaha it didn't really bother me...
BlackLsCoupe, I would take you up on the offer if I didn't live so far away hahaha

If they can put the blame on a part thats not oem you are screwed. Im surprised they dont blame window tent for the ignition sticking problems

yeah. most of the time the parts they use are the same ones that break or junk from advance auto. I got my ignition replaced a few weeks ago and they put the same exact model that is known to break again and here I am with my key getting stuck. I hate gm, this will be my last purchase supporting their pos company.

no, but when it's at the dealer, taken apart, im gonna have to pay for them to put it back together with the shitty bearing, then come home order the part, then pay another garage to do everything over again except replace the bearing this time...that'd be even more pricey.... anyway it's done now
