Question Problem w/ 2nd Gear

Last night while I was driving home from bowling with my girlfriend and some buddies of mine, I encountered my first problem with my cobalt. I drive a 2006 LS Coupe with the manual transmission, and everything was going fine last night until right about the time I got home. I was at a stop sign, put it into first and started to drive off. Then, when I shift into 2nd gear, I let out on the clutch and press the gas. My car then starts hesitating and sorta jumping. It would kinda hop i guess, just start/stop start/stop. when i shift into 3rd gear everything was fine though. the next stop light i encountered, i expected the same thing to happen, but it didn't. However, it did occur like 2 more times before I got home. Keep in mind that my car is completely stock, almost 3 months old, and 7000 miles.

I'm not sure if that is the Trans or a computer problem? I would call the dealership and ask. If you go down their they will want you to show them the problem, and if it is intermittent like you are saying they won't be able to duplicate it.

does anyone else have any possible solutions to the problem? i'm not discrediting you Cobalt_Supercharged, just trying to get as many possible solutions as i can before contacting the dealership. i would love to get rid of it without having to go out there!

My SS/SC used to choke out in 2nd while i was getting used to the tranny. Once i got the swing of things, no problems

No offense taken. I'm no expert and I hate taking mine to the dealer, so I understand. It just doesn't seem like the manual trany would cause the engine to act up like that. If it was resistant to turning (ie locking up), it would effect every gear, not just second.

Mine sometimes does this in first, but I have associated it with hiting a bump and my foot hitting the gas pedal funny and then me attempting to correct the position. First gear is really touchy on the SS S/C. Either quickly accelerating, quickly decelerating, or roasting the tires. Not much of a happy medium.

i know what you mean... one thing i was kinda thinking about was that when your shifting gears and you hit the gas too early before you let all the way out on the clutch, you know how it kinda jerks... that's what my car was doing. so i'm thinking that when i let out on the clutch that maybe it was sticking... causing it to do that... just a possibility from thinking about it...

Well maybe you were going over bumbs and just disengaging 1st and going into second... The bumbs causing your foot to sort of bounce making you shake back and forth. Have done this a fwe times before.. Or maybe something else is wrong.. Who knows.

Talking

well guys... after going out and driving today, i've reached my conclusion on the problem. I was too ******* tired to drive and my foot was probably bouncing... i was just too tired to realize that and thought my car was spazzing on me. after driving around today, not once has this problem occured! since i was driving home around 1:30 this morning, that probably explains it! thanks for all of the responses though...
