put engine back together and it won't start

Hi.
I got the timing all set on my 2.0 s/c and I put everything back together, put oil in, and attempt to start it. It cranks fine but it's not starting. I've checked for fuel and spark and I'm getting both n every cylinder. There is even fuel vapor making it out the exhaust. I disconnected and reconnected the battery but that did nothing. Please help.

Did you touch the CPS sensor at all? What were you doing that you needed to do the timing set?

I looked up in all data the marks should line up with cylinder #4 at TDC compression. I did that but I will double check and see how it goes. Im almost wondering if i need to do a relearn procedure.

If you got gas and spark and it's not firing almost guaranteed that it's not sparking at the right time. CP's is the place to look. Pretty sure gm says you need a relearn after changing one even if you don't get a code. It should still start though.

I let it sit for a while and then when I go to start it for the first time it backfires. I don't know what's going on. It still won't start.

Here is a thread stage07SS made about installing cams and a head in his car. There is some info in here about correctly timing the cam position sensor.

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/how-...r-head-292811/

Also, the throttle body and coil packs have the same connector. Check to make sure you did not mix them up.

Is there any way to test a cam position sensor to tell if it's bad? I lined up the 2 marks with cylinder 1 at tdc compression and still nothing is happening. I crank, get spark, get fuel, and the occasional backfire. Then i just pull the sensor out and put it back in several more times just guessing what the right way would be. Is there any way to get the car started without taking it to the stealership? I'm running out of ideas.
