Removing fender to adjust hood

Has anyone removed their fenders yet? I just want to see if someone could give me some pointers. My hood has been out of alignment for quite some time and you need to get into the fender to fix it.

If anyone can help out, it would be much appreciated.

Picture of the hood...

you sure you need to move the fender? the 4 bolts that are on your hood if you play with and move around should make it level and perfect.. took me like a half hour playing with it and 3 people helping but we eventually got it

unless you got hit and messed up the fender the fender shouldn't have anything to do with it... have you taken your hood off?

What 4 bolts do you have cuz there are none, I've looked and looked. You have a picture?

What happened is I was in an accident which the hood, fender and a bunch of other parts were replaced. Well one cold day I closed the hood and it stuck. the work was done at a dealer and something moved. They won't touch it claiming I must have closed it on something.

Everyone I have talked to about it says the same thing. The only way to fix it is to remove the fender

there are 4 bolts holding the hood on to the car in the bottom corners.. if you loosen them ans slide them side to side up and down and every which way you can get that hood back to where it should be.. if its your fender that has to be moved then your fender would be off where it meets your door and front bumper... if its not then its just your hood.. ill go snap pics of said bolts

there are thousands of moves to make.. loosen 3 bolts and tighten them.. all four.. two.. one.. its a pain in the ass and i would have at least one friend around but that should do it for you

this is also on a redline.. i would assume there in the same place on the cobalt.. becuase well its the only place on every car.. just look on the bottom left and right corner of your hood.. they are there.. i promise lol

if your fender i perfect its your hood.. just **** with the bolts pushing, sliding the hood you'll get the hang of it wen you move it a bit you'll see what move does what because you can move the bolt on the left side and totally **** up the right side and vise versa.. again its a bitch but you should be able to do it

Yup... Just like I thought. Redline is different. If the fix was that easy I wouldn't still have this issue a year and a half after it happened. Bolts to adjust are INSIDE the fender.

My ? is how did your hood get this way? accident? took it off and cant figure out how to adjust it? Either way their are tons of things you can do to adjust it. And usually if the hood is sitting high it's because the hinge is bent. The hinge doesnt go down any

Like I said before, accident that was fixed by a GM body shop. One day the hinge moved and when I closed the hood it didnt sit flat.

Show me where. those are the bolts. EVERY body shop I have been to and EVERY dealer said the same thing. to adjust it the fender has to come off. There are two on the hood, you can see them. They hold teh hood in place, from underneath.

^ Dude their is only 2 bolts on the hood side! you can only move the hood back and forth and side to side with the hood side or the dowl side. You cannot bring the hood down because the hinge sits flat on the cowl

GM, most of the time they do look ok but it doesnt take much to make it ligh up like crap and it don't take much to bend.

Get a hinge from gm. It will need to be painted though. It doesnt take much to make it lign up like crap. Sometimes they don't even look bent but they are.

I'm not 100% on that sometimes you can losten the bolts on the fender, take the bolts off the hood and slide the hinge out.

Gotcha... GM Parts Direct Calls them Left and Right but it's hard to tell which one is which. I would think left, but the image for right looks like it's the one.

Drivers side is always the left side. In most cases it's the hood side they get tweeked. For instance if something gets cought in the hinge and you try to shut it they bend. But get them both and you will be fixed mark my words

Thanks man. I'm gonna try that. I actually just put a question in to a dealer to confirm. Cuz I am looking at these parts and the illustrations adn pictures show right side as what appears to be the hinge for the drivers side.

FYI... According to GM the Drivers Side of the vehicle is the Right Side:

"Here are the correct part numbers you requested.
22694779 Driver side hood hinge; body side.
15262843 Driver side hood hinge; hood side.
11518897 Hood hinge pivot bolt.

I have verified that these part numbers are active and are for the driver side of the vehicle."
