Exclamation Reverse Lights Not Working!

I have tried searching through the forums and can't find anything related to my current issue (one of many!).
After coming home last night from gettin' groceries, I noticed when I went to back up, it wasn't as visible as normal. Well, long story short, my reverse lights aren't coming on at ALL. I do not know the first thing about electrical stuff and I don't wanna tell the hubby... he will automatically assume I did something to it, lol. The only thing I've done is change the transmission oil, disconnect the windows/mirror/lock buttons to paint the door handles, and disconnect the DIC buttons when painting the dash trim (both of which have been connected correctly again).
What all should I check first? I'd rather find out the problem and correct it myself. Otherwise, the hubby's gonna tear the car apart to find out what's wrong. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
Yes, I want every possible solution to this problem. I have LOTS of time @ work and will be able to do suggestions y'all provide within the next 6-8 hours, lol.
THANKS!

the fuses are under the hood by the jump point. or under the dash on the passenger side. there is a panel that will pull off on the side of the console to reveal the fuses

Thanks! I'll check when it stops raining. I hope a blown fuse is the thing. I don't even wanna go through the process of replacing bulbs.

They both require the same amount of work.

For future reference

1. Just pull off carpert on your trunk lid with the tabs.

2. Twist the light, and un hook it.

Hm... when I got home yesterday, they worked. When I got in the car this morning, they worked. When I got to work, THEY QUIT WORKING. I hate my car sometimes... it has more emotional stress than a chick on her period.

I can't check the fuses because it has been raining nonstop for 2 days now. ****. Anyone willing to drive to Bama and check for me in the rain?

its the switch box near the tranny. I had the same problem, sometimes they worked, sometimes they didnt. Brought it to the dealership and the switch box that his connected to the tranny/shifter was broken. When you put it in R, the shifter is suppose to hit a switch and it turns the lights on. That is broken. Took the dealership about an hour to figure out what it was and fix it.

I told them that the mod has to cause the problem and the women said thats true so i asked "how the hell does a CAI cause my reverse lights not to come on" she said "it cant" .... dumb blondes...lol

My "bumper-to-bumper" warranty ran out 30,000 miles ago... lol. Would this be covered on the "drivetrain" warranty that's good for 100,000 miles? I really hate taking the car to the dealer; is there a way I can do this myself if that's the problem?

No, I haven't checked anything... raining for 3 days straight now. But it can't be a blown fuse if it works sometimes and not, right?
