Serious problems
Car was good parked it for 3 days then needed to jump it. Jumped it an it went into reduced engine power. After 20 minutes it was fine. The next day had to jump it again this time had to leave a jump box on it to get it to where I had to go. The next day I could not even jump it. The battery has 2 volts. Here is the kicker. I disconected the battery and just hooked up the jump box and tried to jump it. It would of had enough power to sustain it for a little bit to run test. It will not even start it just clicks. Now there is a huge draw. You can just tell when you hook the box or cables from the spark. I do not have any after market acseroies either. Even when the jump box is fully charge it will drain it within 30 seconds. I did not hit anything or go anywhere wet or crazy. Like I said I parked it for 3 days and this is what happens. I am pretty good with cars worked at a shop for a good while. Have not had much time to get into it but I can just tell this is going to be a pain in the ass. Based off what is going on now its not the battery or the alt. Anyone help its a 2006 cobalt ls I believe it has the 2.2. Thanks guys .

Dead batt ..I disconnected the bat and hooked up a jump box and I tried to jump it with a another car at the same time. It should have fired up
It should have started with the jump box even if it was bad..I have two jump boxes and they were fully charged and even jumping it should have fired it up
dont think sooooo
Either way I cant even start it to test the alt. It was workin to where I could jump start it or use my jump box now as soon as I hook up the jump box fully charged it drains them within 30 seconds. As soon as I hook up the POS you can see it arc its not normal.

Bad Battery. Car batteries are lead acid batteries and they are quite picky... Here are some pros and cons!
Pros:
Cheap
Cons:
Heavy
Don't like to be overcharged
Don't like to be undercharged
Don't like to get too hot
Don't like to get too cold
Don't like to be completely discharged
Don't like to be charged too quickly
Don't like to be discharged too quickly
And it goes on and on...
Keep in mind that a 12V car battery is considered dead at 10V, so if you only saw 2V I guaranty that you need a new battery.
Now we need to think about what caused the drain before a new battery is installed.

If your battery cells are beyond fubar'd, they may not even be able to pass a current, let alone generate one. Had the same situation as you on my woman's car years ago - couldn't even jump start it. Ended up being the battery.

Finally was able to get the car running. While its running the voltage does not change in fact it slowly drops meaning its sucking power from the batt. Alt is bad infact I am 99 % sure thats where the draw is coming from since its bad somthing is screwed up inside. Expensive too 150 plus 50 dollar core charge I am getting a used one for now. Last question I did not check the output of the alternator directly I just checked the main power cables is there a regulator other than the alternator or is it only built on the alternator.
