Service Airbag
I've had this light come one once before for a short time, took my car to the dealer and a mechanic there said they will ocassionally come on for no reason. Light went out, and I forgot about it.
Now my airbag light comes in frequently and remains in for the duration of my drive. I read a few threads on the forums about possible sensors in the seatbelt areas going bad, or maybe something under the passenger seat?
I'm unsure where to start on this one. If it's a dealer only thing then I'll bite the bullet and open my wallet for the fix. But if it's something that I can do, then help a brotha out!

Bounce on the seats, check harnesses for pinched wires or cut wires. Mine did it a few weeks after pulling the airbag in the steering wheel during a wot pull. Removed the bag and found a wire pinched between the hub and back of the bag. Pushed it out of the way and back further and no issue since. Good luck.

Ok checked out a of the plugs under the seats and I noticed on my seats, there is a wire harness plug that isn't plugged into anything? I'm assuming this is for a heated seat option or something?
As for everything else, plugs are connected and secure.

I've tried hunting down this problem for a couple months now. My light will come on and off over and over and over again while driving. I found broken wires at the passenger seat belt tension sensor and ended up replacing the whole passenger seat belt assembly. The problem still persists.
I would recommend having the dealer do a diagnose if you do not have access to BCM scanning gear (I do not, as I can't get HPT to access those codes). Then if it is something you can replace yourself, do so. The seat belt install was not that hard.
I am going to try and check the clockspring next. Although I really just want to have it diagnosed so I am not pulling stuff apart for nothing.
And ya, that empty plug is normal. Check the wires from the base of the passenger seatbelt to under the carpet.

After shuffling the plugs around and making sure they were connected tight, haven't seen the light since. Hopefully it won't come back on. If it does, I'll contact GM and see what they know about it.

Plugs are a common problem on lots of cars. But check where your seat belt attaches to the floor next to the seat (by the door) common to break wires at the pivot point. Replaced several for that. It is usually pretty obvious when they break. Causes what you said. Moving seat to check connections may have made a temporary connection

Having same issue but I was told my front passenger airbag sensor was bad. I have looked for this sensor lol, and have failed to locate it. Anyone know of where it is located or is their a drawing layout for the sensors, and airbags?
