shaking/vibrating problem with new wheels
On sunday i was down at Waterfest (huge vw/audi show for those that dont know) and i found a set of flik wasps with brand new nitto tires on them and the guy said 450. well they were dirty as hell but i didnt care i'd just clean them up so i got em for 400. put em on last night and i noticed at slower speeds (30mph) you can notice a shaking sensation (what you feel when the rotors are warped) but with no braking. then when you hit highway speeds it gets worse. when it comes time to brake it gets terrible even the steering wheel goes nuts. so i talked to a couple people and they said the wheels were out of balance so today i get em balanced and it didnt fix the problem.
now before i put on the new wheels i noticed the rotors were slightly warped but it wasnt bad and i didnt feel like dropping my car off for a day to get a tiny shaking sensation when braking out. but now with this problem not being unbalanced tires im thinking its either the rotors are so warped theyre hitting the pads even when the brakes arent applied. either that or one or more of the wheels are bent. im bringing it back to the dealer tomorrow and dropping it off for the day so hopefully that will fix the problem but do you guys have any ideas? i was just talking to a friend of mine and she said that if a rim was bent they would notice when it was balanced and tell me, which they didnt so that leads me to believe warped rotors or something worse. any ideas?

hey you'll need hub centric rings and to take off the brake clips i had the same issue when i got my rims on
you also should double check the balancing of it lemme see dem bishes lol

hub centric rings are really cheap and the brake clips are free to take off and a good place to start.. what are you doing at like 630? i'll be getting outta work and we can take one off for me to look at if you want

ummmm i might be at the dr. ill pm you my number and gimme a call. im at fulton now. they had to replace the front rotors and resurface the drums. so ill see if that makes any type of difference.
and i got a friend that works there and hes gonna flash out SAI and see what he can do about the governor

Go get them balanced again... but at someone with road force balancing. I had my current wheels balanced and it didnt cure the vibration. I brought them to someone who could road force balance them and they did their best but my wheels were so warped it was too much to be cured.
He may have been selling them cheap cuz he knew they were garbage

This is easy...was there a problem before you mounted the wheels? There's a problem after... Is there a problem when you re-mount your old wheels? If so then it's your brakes, if not then it's the wheels.
But I'm guessing the rims are probably f-ed and not the wheel balance. People should know better than to buy rims from some guy on the street or at a flea market.
Did you see when the designer of the aem bypass valve was so sure of his design he put his nsx on the line by literally plunging the filter in an aquarium? Hehehe awesome and stupid at the same time.

idk if the hubcentric rings arent too expensive ill try them out. and there was no problem with my old wheels. but when they balanced the tires they would have seen if the wheel was egged and told me. and i really dont want to drop another $40 to MAYBE fix the problem

I would be suspicious that they weren't balanced right, a lot of people rush through it I was driving around with my new tires wondering why in hell i had a shimmy after just getting them balanced. Or else maybe a defect with one of the new tires.

yea when i got my rims on they just slapped some weights on the rim and didn't take off the brake clips.. they also through away the hub centric rings
#14
hence getting them road force balanced. they will tell you if a rim or tire is defective/out of shape. the computer will align the highspots of the rim with the low spots on the tire, or vice versa. Its honestly the best way to go.

it can be 4 things
1. the brake clips weren't taken off
2. hub centric rings are needed
3. balance is outta wack
4. rim is fucked up

k question for you. why would the brake clips need to be taken off? and where are they located(i know im a nubcake). Als0 i've got the hubcentric caps put on so that can't be it.
Ijust went to a wheel and tire service center and here is what they said.
If the vibration in the steering wheel and brake only occurs when im braking it is most likley that i over torqued my lugs putting to much pressure on them and warping the rotor. And also heres the best part. 300$ to repair. Now i got the money to get the service done, but that ******* SUCKS. Has ol boy gotten his fixed or found out what the deal is with his yet?

The rotors might be warped. In some cars this can be caused by over-tightening the wheel lugs. Make sure they are torqued to manufacturer spec. If this doesn't help, have the rotors checked with a dial indicator (machinist tool). They may have to be turned on a lathe to make them true again.
While you're at it, check for excess play in the bearings.
Sometimes moisture in the brake fluid can cause pulsations. If you're redoing your brakes be sure to flush and replace the fluid.
