Sleeve replacement labor hours
Just finished installing 4 new Melling sleeves into a 2.4 LE5 block. Ordered through summit and drop shipped from Melling, part # CSL9349F.
The stock pistons wouldn't slide in (along with the chip catchers from the sleeve kit), so I dial bore gauge measured the bores undersized by 0.021".
Preparing to not be satisfied by the company's response to this not sure yet, will hope for the best but be prepared for the worst so I am tracking down the flat rate hours to install the 4 sleeves. Alldatadiy does not show a labor rate.

I got a hold of Melling, they say their sleeves must be bored out. They say any press in sleeve is going to get distorted and the GM ones are inferior. I checked the catalog and they list the 2.4 Ecotec sleeves with an I.D. of 4.435" where stock bore is 3.465". My mistake was stuck on thinking I was installing GM spec sleeves, sorry Melling for questioning your good design intent.
In addition, Hahn racecraft uses GM sleeves but they hone out 0.004" which is probably to cleanup any distortion and straighten things out.

Interesting. So they're measuring 87.99mm? My guess is that they'll tell you that you're meant to bore them to fit your pistons after install, but that's purely speculation.
EDIT: I see that I was slow to board the response train.
Also, how much was that tool? I have an LSJ block that needs to be re-sleeved.

I picked the tool up on ebay and made an offer they accepted, I saw a few up there for the LSJ back then.

I have a shop lined up to do a hone but I'll have to add on boring and decking block because the GM cutter tool to trim the tops of the sleeves won't fit into these smaller bores (the plastic guide rides the bore when cutting).
