the sound you are hearing is mostly a clunk in the steering column.

a lot of the cobalt owners on here have had problems with them, and if they haven't they eventually will. there was some kind of design flaw or something that GM created. im not 100% sure if its covered under warranty, but there is a NHTSA bulletin out about it.

I am willing to bet it is your stabalizer links, Read my thread about it! If your car is under warranty they should fix it with no questions asked.

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/problems-service-maintenance-69/clunking-noise-fixed-under-warranty-back-worse-182520/

I got mine fixed and the next day the other sides link went bad, took it in and they replaced that part as well.

The part they replace the old stabalizer with is a much heavier duty and durable item!

If you read my post I linked above; that all happened after I installed my Lowering springs and they still fixed everything under warranty!

could be either sway bar bushings, control arm bushings, endlinks or steering column

i have the same sort of clunk coming from my car but its in the rear of my car. I brought it to the dealer and they said it was my exhaust. its bouncing around and hitting the axle. BS it was doing it before that.

HOW can you tell what it would be. by looking.
