ss/sc shift knob falling off
I'm getting really frustrated with my damn shift knob falling off! Is this happening with anyone else with ss/sc? I won't even be doing anything but shifting regular and it just pops off when I go from 1st to 2nd. I put it back on and give it a twist (pretty hard twist) and it'll be good for a little, then back off again. Any fixes besides an aftermarket shifter?

I've had that happen to me...I just pop it back on and keep going
and I dont know of anything that could help other than the aftermarket...you could always resort to duct tape that'll fix anything lol

that happened to me around 5000 miles...the little plate with the gears had already fallen off so i hammered it on then put the plate back on with gorilla glue....havnt had a problem with either for the last 13000 miles

ditto - gorilla glue did wonders for me... other than the little bit that expanded out of the edges - I'm slowly scratching it away everytime I drive...

Haha this just happened to me for the 2nd time yesterday after work. It's been about 6 months.
I go to put it in reverse and the knob came off. I laughed my a$$ off.
I guess bashing it on didn't work. It's super glue time. Or Hurst........

Even if it is covered under warranty do they do anything different to the knob? I would imagine they wouldn't and eventually I would be stuck in the same place I am know anyway. Does anyone know if the silver part on the top seperates from the rest of it? If it does I can try to drill and tap the shifter and put a screw under that piece. I actually have some gorilla glue Otherwise I will probably end up disabling the reverse lockout somehow and get a new shift knob, but I really don't want to go that route if I don't have to. I wonder if I could get a big enough heli coil and try to thread the shifter.

Yep I had my shifter knob pop off about 6 months after I bought the car. I brought it in and the dealership replaced the entire shifter and I havne't had any problems since.

Well went to my work to grab some tools. I tapped the shift knob with a 1/2"X20 and did the same to the shifter. Went on very nicely, untill it popped off again The problem is that the inside of the shift knob isn't completely even. It's got those darn ridges in it that come in contact with the shifter itself. Since it's only threaded deep on those ridges it stripped very easily. I went around to a bunch of auto stores and couldn't find the right size heli coil either, which would cure the problem. Back to the drawing board.

Well I managed to locate a helicoil kit for the right thread. I'll be finishing it up tomorrow after work. Hopefully I have the right size drill bit at work or I'll be running to home depot. I'll take a couple pics and post them up after I'm done. Hopefully it works this time...

The whole knob was coming off with mine. I actually finished the threaded install and put it up as an install guide. Still hasn't been approved yet I guess. I'll post up the link here as soon as it is.

This happened to me too, first time I had my sunroof open and I almost threw it out of the car. I just put it back on and it kept coming off so I got a Hurst shifter.
