Stock SS/SC running lean after oil change?

Helped my brother-in-law change the oil on his 05' SS/SC on my lift the other day, and after the change he got a CEL. A friend used a scanner and told him that is was running lean, cleared it, and it came back after a little driving (he didn't tell me exactly what code it was). The car is completely stock, so its not an intake or something causing his a/f ratios to be off, and he told me the car is running better than it has in a long time. Any idea what would be causing it? He hasn't changed his fuel filter yet (32,xxx miles) so I was thinking that could be the problem, but it seems odd that the code only threw after the oil change? Is there a vacuum hose or anything in that area I might have pulled off trying to get the filter out? I have an LNF so i'm not very familiar with the LSJ layout. He told me he could feel a nipple that was screwed onto the bottom of something that felt like it should have a hose, but couldn't find a loose hose anywhere.

Thoughts would be appreciated, I'm going to take a look at it one of these days if I get out of work early enough.

There are alot of hoses and a sensor connection right around the oil filter canister. You could have easily knocked one of the hoses loose, or loosened the connection on a sensor while doing the oil change.

There is actually a connector that I always had to unplug to get the socket and extension on the filter cap. Maybe he forgot to plug that back in ..... or disturbed something taking the filter out.
