Supercharger Seized???

So I'm driving home yesterday at about 20MPH and suddenly I'm sitting on 0. The motor is dead and won't start. When I hit the key it just clunks really loudly. So I head home to wait for a tow from a friend. I get back and someone has hit my car on the driver's side front. Hit and run it's great! But back to the problem, I get her home and am attempting to put my GM stage 2 pulley back on and the 42.5 injectors, when I notice the pulley won't spin even with the belt off the pulley. So we pull the pulley off and try to just turn the hub and it still won't move. Then we completely remove the s/c off the car and attempted to turn the blades themselves and NOTHING. Even put a pipe wrench on the hub and still can't turn it! WTF is going on? I haven't lost any s/c oil and have never changed it so I know it's still full. The car has a little over 11K miles, so I can warranty it, but I wanted to make sure it's nothing I did before I take her to the dealership. I was GM stage 2, I recently changed to 60lb injectors and a 2.8 inch pulley. I'll just swap it back to stage 2 and drop her off if I can't figure this out.

Nobody huh? We are completely stumped. All we can guess is bad bearings from the factory that finally broke down under the faster spin!

Sure, separate the rotor pack from the case, without opening up the drive unit. Unfortunately, the same bolts hold all 3 pieces together. You have to be very careful where you pry it open and a little lucky that it won't leak.

When it rains it pours! Sorry for your trouble

From what I remember it goes Under the crankshaft pulley, over the tensioner pulley, under the alt pulley, over the supercharger pulley, under the a/c pulley then there's at least 1 or 2 more pulleys that you can't really see clearly but pretty much it's straightforward. Never took the belt off myself so that's about all I can say. Feel free to correct my crapitude; I think I missed a bit.

From the top of the crank pulley, towards the front of the motor...
- under idler, up to tensioner
-over tensioner, down to alternator
-up from alternator, to blower
-down from blower, to a/c compressor
-under a/c back to crank pulley.

also, dont forget to KEEP THE ROTOR PACK SEALED TOGETHER...

i used needle-nose vise grips on the ouside wherever theyd grab... you dont want it to leak unnecessarily.

good luck

There should be a picture(sticker) on the rad support near the hood latch when you open the hood unless you removed the sticker.

i am not going to take it apart till after it comes back from the body shop. its going to the body shop on monday. after it comes back from the body shop i am going to be able to get to the air filter to see if it is busted. if its busted the stock filter is going back on. if its not busted then the intake is staying on and being shipped off. i have a plan on how everything is going to work. its just that its all going to take time. thanks for the help.

i have no idea how i coulda sucked up something in the blower bc there is nothing wrong with the air filter. i kicked out the front headlight since it was broken anyways and there is nothing missing on the filter itself and its completely sealed it was on so tight i had to take it all apart to get a visual inspection of it.

i just installed the 60# injectors and put a 2.8 pully on it and loaded a tune. i have stage 2 installed as far as the dealership is conserned. i finally got everything put back together.

hehe. Well, I wish you the best of luck. Putting the belt back on the car without the proper tools will be a pain.

I would see if a non dealer mechanic can do it for you. Then tow it to the dealer and tell them to fix it.

gm thinks i have stage 2. last week i put the 2.8 and the 60's on and the second day of driving with the new setup is when the seizing of the supercharger. so last night i put the stage 2 kit back on so the dealership thinks their product failed.

you do know they look at calibration codes in the pcm if a major hard part fails. that means if they do and you are tuned....

They can tell if you've ever flashed a custom tune onto the factory PCM. Only way I know of to get around that is to keep the factory PCM with the S2 tune, and get a new PCM for all the custom tunes so you can swap the stocker back in.

Honestly I don't know whether they can tell if a PCM's been swapped.
