Think its a warped rotor but want second opinions
So a while back when I had my rotor off, some rust got between the rotor and hub when I was putting it back on and I didn't realize it until I took it off again a couple weeks later. I noticed shaking in the steering wheel since the wheel was misaligned as a result. This shaking was non stop and got worse as I accelerated.
Then when I realized what had happened I had the rotor turned and reinstalled. At first it seemed ok but then I noticed pulsing when I would break. Seems like a textbook warped rotor but...it only happens at highway speed. It will occasionally happen at speeds as low as 40mph ONLY after going highway speeds. Then when I let the car sit and drive 40 it won't happen.
I had a squeeling for a little while but that has gone away.
I have new rotors, just waiting on pads. Just looking for opinions on the warped rotor theory since I thought warped rotors would pulse at any speed.

I kind of have a similar problem... I never took my rotors off or anything but when I brake from any speed over 40mph my steering wheel vibrates. And only those speeds. My first instinct said warped rotors too. I'm going to the dealership tomorrow, I'll ask and see what they say.

The rotors on my 06 LT warped in the first 10k mi and progressivly got worse. I only noticed the warp during light-moderate braking, heavy braking the car still had a bit of a shimmy but not nearly as bad. Speed shouldnt matter when it comes to warp.
Take your rotors off and ensure that the mating surfaces dont have something on them, this includes the hub, back and front of the rotor, and the backside of the wheel. Once you have everything back on make sure you torque the lugnuts to 100 ftlbs drive it around the block and ensure everything is still at 100 ftlbs when you return.

my buddy has an 04 GTO and he warped his rotors. they would only pulse when he brakes between 40~50ish, unless he slammed on them. getting them turned can help but sometimes its un-fixable. but to me idk how you would have warped them by just taking them off. you warp rotors by getting them too hot and then sitting in one spot for too long.
good luck with them. hope this helped.

Sounds like mine, I think the rotors are warped.
Mine did it when I first baught it off the lot. I thought it was because it just sat there for a while and would wear itself in, but it hasnt. That was back in October. If im going fast like 60mph my wheel viberates,
If I go slow, like 30mph it kinda pulses as I slow down. I was planing on waiting until my pads need to be replaced, then do everything all at once.

Ya my old rotors were warped bad, you couldnt tell by the looks but the vibration would start braking from 40 and would get worse on up, my pedal also went to the floor, pads had more than half the life left
