So im putting my list together for parts for the timing chain replacement, and im looking at the diagrams regarding how its assembled and where everything is located. And I notice the front cover that you have to remove to access the timing chain is literally the oil pump itself. For those of you who have done the timing chain on your ecotec, have any of you gone out of the way to replace both the water pump and oil pump at the same time while it was open? Car has 130k of "unknown" and probably pooor maintenance on it and im not sure if i should just inspect the vanes on the oil pump or just go ahead and replace it while im there. Frankly ive never seen a setup like this for an oil pump and waterpump. Although im used to working on imports. Another thing I see listed in the CED kits is the 2.4 VVT cam gears, is this something that is typically replaced for mileage or should I just be inspecting those sprockets for wear? Replacing those and the oil pump would add significant cost to the whole venture. The waterpump is kinda like a given on most car's, but this car is a little different, but for 39 bucks I dont see why not other then the inconvenience of having to remove my header.
