Tranny Leak
Hello Everyone! First, just want to say Hi as I am new the forum and a new cobalt owner. I just picked one up with a seized engine for dirt cheap. Its only a base model 2006 LS but u gotta start somewhere.
So I just replaced the engine...
I pulled the old one through the top because I was too lazy to drop the cradle on it. Since the engine was seized I couldn't spin the flywheel to unbolt the torque converter. So i just removed all the motor mounts and separated the the bell housing leaving the torque converter connected to the flywheel. Well after the new engine replacement, I have a tranny leak at the bell housing area. (go figure) I can't tell whats leaking. I know its coming from the end of the transmission shaft where it mates to the torque converter. Any idea on how to decide on which is actually leaking?
Thanks in advance for any answers.

is it leaking from inside the bell housing? There is a front pump shaft seal inside there that could be leaking. Unless you damaged something lifting the engine up with the torque converter on the output shaft......

Yes, It is leaking from inside the bell housing. The leak is coming from where the torque converter and the input shaft (don't know the name for it) come together. I drew a picture in paint like a boss to show where the leak is coming from
