Unreal, I have an 07 and the battery is already dead!
I tried starting my car today to get to work and the battery is dead.
Even more frustrating is that the key would not come out and the trunk would not pop open so I could check the battery.
The button to open the trunk would not work, and the key to get in the trunk was stuck in the ignition... unreal
I opened the front hood, and put the battery charger negative on the frame and the positive on that post under the red cap.
I waited 5 minutes and tried, and got just clacking noises and then no power.
I waited another 5 minutes and then I was able to remove the keys.
This is retarded, I did not leave my lights on, and I have not abused the car and my battery is dead after 22k miles.
The tires they put on these Cobalts are also $hit.
Anyone else with a bum battery?
These should last at least 2 years of running, and I am only a little over a year on this car.

the button to open the trunk is electric, so yeah it didint work when you pressed it.
If you have a volt meter see what the battery output is. If it 13+ its ok.... below that usually indicates a bad battery, next step is to check the charging system... 2 years, bring it for warranty work

Alternator perhaps... Do you have a big stereo??
Sometimes when starter solenoids go bad they can ninja style drain your battery while your car is off.
The clacking was probably just because the battery had SOME juice after charging for 5 minutes but not enough to crank.
Oh yeah... I'd use the charger to try and charge it like overnight. I wouldn't jump it because sometimes it kills the alternator trying to charge up a dead battery really quickly.

I also had to replace my battery. The OEM one isn't necessarily bad it just doesn't like to be used without car being on (running the radio). As this point, charging wont do anything. I put my battery on low charge for 12 hours and didn't do anything.

If you turn the car off and the battery is any less than 12.5V within 5 minutes then you either have a bad battery or large current drain of sorts. If the car is running at idle and all you see is 13 volts or less, then you have an alternator issue or some serious corrosion somewhere.
