Problems/Service/Maintenance Do you have problems with your new 2.0, 2.2, or 2.4L? What kind of service did you have done?

water pump/timing chain

Hey i was just curious as to when it would be a good idea to check the timing chain and water pump on an 08 SS?

I dont have any issues i just wanna know so im prepared.
Any info would be great.

Water pump: If it starts leaking, replace it. There is no service interval.

Timing chain: they pretty much never need service on the Ecotecs unless you throw a code for crankshaft/camshaft correlation. A timing chain is much more durable than a belt.

Thanks for the info. I read on here that the tensioners go on these engines rather easily?

Not really the timing chain tensioners but the belt ones are more likely but doesnt happen that often
