weird evap system issue
ok here we go...
took the balt in for the tank/filler w.e. recall. they did it, 2 days later i throw a code for a small evap system leak. i bring it back in and say yo you guys were the last people to touch my fuel system. fix it and im not paying a dime. they take it in and check it and come back to me saying, they cant determine the problem without my cat (im catless). i ask them how so? the code is for a small leak in the evap system and i have the cat codes turned off obviously. the tech says oh it could be something with the cam sensor blah blah blah... my question is am i getting jerked around here? idk what to do. i cleared the code once and it came back 2 weeks later. my afr is perfectly fine, gas mpgs are good. im confused.

To test for leaks in the EVAP you need a smoke machine...thats the only way to find a leak in the EVAP system. The cam sensor has nothing to do with the evap system.

What most likely happened is they broke something and they don't want to be bothered fixing it because its a pain in the ass. **** happens, things break. BUT, I never hide it from a customer. Or what will happen is the service manager knows what happened because the mechanic told him, but the manager wants to hide it and tells the mechanic to BS the customer. Every service manager I've had as a boss has been an ******* liar to some extent.

Before complaining, I'd go back one last time and demand the problem be fixed or tell the service manager you will contact chevy and make a compliant. At this point most likely they will stop BSing and fix the problem. The customer service number is 1.800-222-1020
