I have heard a noise a couple of times making tight turns in a parking lot. I have read on here somewhere that It might be something to do with the rack and pinion.

I have the same problem with mine, its kinda weird. Unfortunately however, I wont be able to get it checked out till I take it out of storage from the winter (Going from a silver 06 cobalt ss to an black 98 escort ZX2 is a bummer > )

I had a rubbing sound when I would turn right, but only at a particular spot. It was the ground effects on the passenger side. for some reason it curled out where it wrapped into the wheel well. My tire would rub on the outside edge. The dealer fixed it by puting a screw in it.

WOW i thought i was the only one with this weird noise comin from the right while makin a sharp right turn...LISTEN UP BUDDS. During the last couple of days ive noticed a weird vibrating muffled sound every time i did a right turn and while accelerating...to see if the noise got louder, i simply smashed the throttle while doing the right turn..let me tell you the noise got more louder and noticable..this morning i jacked up my blackkSS/sc to do a visual check up..everything seemed to be tight except a little play on the half shaft..now the next step is to actualy take it apart from the transaxle and check it out more closely but my problem is that i cant find any specs on this car due to it being 2006..DAMN THE NEW CARS..(torque specs, diagrams)..3 months back i had a new transaxle put in due to the original one having leaking seals.. it was a battle to have gm cover it on warranty but i did it.. Now i hope this isnt relating to the differental part..or else i screwed...Ill keep u guys posted and if any questions dont be shy and ask.. .

I had the same issue. Tell the service dept to search for a TSB regarding a "Clunk".
When the drivetrain is under torque due to accelleration, the steering arm is actually contacting a corner of the transmission or a transmission mount. This is a known issue, and GM is working on a fix. The soft fix is to adjust the steering to lessen the likelihood of the arm contacting the trans/mount. They 'are working on it' and should have a hard fix of some sort and will include a recall.
However, just because they adjust the steering to 'lessen' the likelihood of the arm contacting, I was still able to reproduce the 'grind' or 'clunk' post-fix.
