What do you guys think????

So my buddy wanted to see what my 04 Redline could do last night. He asked my if he could drive it and I figured no biggy. He owns a twin turbo 300zx and a GSXR-1000 I felt confident he could handle it. I hope anyone thats driven a performance car should know how to drive. So he got first grab second pretty damn good and proceded to some how i have no clue how go from second to first. And you can imagine what happen next. Obviosly she screamed and pretty much shut right down. Fly wheel seems to be gone becuase I get no crank the starter just spins. Sounds like its only running on 3 cylinder but will run for a moment. Only reason i know this is becuase we tried bumping it to see how it would react. It was idling and just shut right down with so pretty nasty noises wile doing so. Also my DP and Resonator was fire red so im assuming the Cat just got destroid cuz it was rattling like crazy.

SO my question is what do you all think? I'm thinking Fly wheel, definetly dropped a cylinder, and bent some rods. Is there anything else I need to be looking or so I can tell this kid what his "F"ing bill is gonna be. I almost cried the cars my baby and now its trash. I'm not the guy that can rip apart my car and look into it so anything helps.

I would Imagine some bent valves maybe, I doubt rods will be hurt, Doesn't it have a rev limiter? I've never let mine above 7300 on stock valve train, however I've seen 7600 stock

The limiter is set at 7200 from my OTTP tune. It was the back pressure that did her in from going into first. My tranny seemed ok when I was shifting it i could acutally go through 1st and second when I had it running. Im sure there some valves bent all to hell. What are the chances of blowing a hole in the block or cracking the cylinder sleeve. I just need to know what I should start looking for parts wise. Or should I just find a whole new motor?

I doubt that you have a hole in the block, therorectically if the tune was safe to begin with, the only problem is the shock if took, The synchro probably took alot of abuse.
you say it wont crank, do you mean it wont turn over at all?

Alright the Cat was fried and in chunks I brppioke out all the pieces. Was this caused because the back pressure when the motor blew? Or could the Cat being clogged and when we took her to the max the exhaust wasn't flowing and it just couldn't handle the pressure. I almost feel like it wasn't a shift into 1st but a blown engine

rev limiters wont help when the transmission physically connected overspins the engine as with mis-shifts. Rev limiters in the ECU can only cut throttle position, timing, and fueling. can't stop the rotating assembly.

He likely bent several valves and will need the head rebuilt. Hopefully your pistons did not receive damage. Flywheel also proably fuct if the starter just spins.

The cat being plugged was not caused by the engine damage. however the clogged cat can cause engine damage. You should have noticed excessive boost levels and a decrease in performance before this.
Dude must have forced it insanely hard to break the 1st gear lockout.

i think you are the proud new owner of a 300zx until he gets your car back from the shop and foots the bill. lesson learned, never let your friends drive your cars or fix your computers.

first off, I'd try to bash the cat out and see where youre at, I've seen clogged cats actually shut a motor off during one of my 4th gear wot pulls.

I took the cat off and smashed everything out. Car still does not want to turn over or do anything. Would it still at least try and turn over if it were in limp mode?
