Wiring - Short - Problem with Power Steering
Hey guys,
I'm facing an electrical issue with my 2010 Cobalt and could really use some advice.
One day, I noticed a burning smell and the "Power Steering" warning light came on in my dashboard. At the same time, my power steering, wipers, water pump (for the wipers), AC button, and inside air button all stopped working.
Upon inspection, I found that the "IGN" fuse had blown. I replaced it, and everything started working fine again.
However, after a few weeks, the exact same issue occurred – burning smell, components stopped working, and the fuse blew again. This cycle repeated itself, with the fuse blowing immediately upon replacement.
I drove like this for a while until I decided to change the fuse again a few days later. Surprisingly, everything started working normally again.
Now, after another few weeks, the same symptoms returned, but this time the fuse is intact. So now I'm without power steering and those other functions, yet the fuse is fine. This suggests there might be a short circuit or a broken wire somewhere.
Occasionally, I notice that some lights on my dashboard blink for a few seconds. During these moments, I can use the wipers, the engine lights turn on again, and the power steering starts working.
While driving, if my car shakes in a certain way, everything starts working again temporarily.
However, after another shake, it stops once more. The power steering works fine while the car is running, but if I turn off the car and then restart it, the power steering doesn't work until the next "shake."
Do you think this could be a grounding issue?
Any ideas?
Thank you very much guys!
