Yes!!! Car Won't Start!!

This is F'ing rediculous...

For the umptenth time, my car is in for service. In reality, its probably like 8th or 9th time.

Monday night, I go out to leave work and try to start my car. *Click*,*Click*,*Click*,*Click*

I try again,

*Click*,*Click*,*Click*,*Click*

WTF!

My cousin comes out and gives me a jump.... nothing... we try jumping the battery in the trunk... NOTHING!!!

Everything is working fine... stereo, lights, EVERYTHING... The car just won't start.

After about 10 minutes of trying, we were going to push it down an incline and try to give it a rolling start... I went in my car to straighten out the wheel, and it locked up. I went into the car got the wheel to move freely again... and then it started right up.

This never happened before... and until Wensday morning, had not happened again!

Wensday morning I go out into my car, try to start it and what do I get:

*Click*,*Click*,*Click*,*Click*

*Click*,*Click*,*Click*,*Click*

Christ! I try to get it to start again... I make the wheel lock and then unlock it and still won't start.

I call 1-800-Chev-Usa and have then come and tow it to my dealer...

Not only do they need to find/fix the start issue. They need to replace my Axel Boot (I brought it in there to fix it before, the ordered the part, picked up my car the next day, went back a week later and dropped my card off as they said the part was in, the NEXT day they call me back and say it was the wrong part... I was SOOOO PISSED 100% wasted trip)

Also, some of the buttons on my steering wheel are not working...

WTF...

I am soooo frusturated with the Car... I love it, but its KILLING ME!

Hmmmmm sounds like it's at least trying to turn over. Maybe an ignition coil or something. Let us know what they find out! Check the TSBs too, there might be something on there that's of use to the service department.

That sucks a lot. I hope they find out what's wrong with it and fix it for you.

I don't think its trying to turn over... It just clicks... like if you took your key and tapped it on a piece of metal...

Theres no "rom rom rom" like its trying to turn over.

I guess what I meant was it's not the clutch interlock, that sometimes doesn't work, but if you're getting a click the ignition is trying to fire a spark. If you get a click and no turnover, then it's an electrical thing. You tried to jump the battery and that didn't work, my next guess would be a bad ignition coil.

I hear you man. I got the same deal the a week or so ago. Car died while I was driving it though. They replaced the computer = still no go. Then they took apart the motor to find out the Head came from together, and now the whole engine is torn out of the car! Then the dealership gives me a rental vehicle, but says today it's only for three days, as I have had it two already!!! I concur on the Lemon Law or GM buyback!

Call 1-800-222-1020 and file a formal complaint with GM. That's what I am doing right now!

Right here, I do, I do. I have a few small things but they're all easy fixes, and to be expected with a first year production car.

I had to have mine towed in this morning because it wouldn't start. The check engine light, security light, and seat belt light were all on...without the key being in the ignition and the speedo was stuck on 80 mph. I already had a case number with GM from a previous complaint and I had to call and add this to it. Looks like quite a few of these things are going south. Good luck with it all as I feel your pain.

I had a problem getting my car started for the longest time when i was at school.

It had to be towed twice and each time they could not find the problem.

It turned out to be the quality of gas from my local gas station.

click, click click, sounds like either a starter or a low battery or possibly a loose connection.

It sounds like it could be the clutch safety switch. I had a s-10 and it was doing the same thing and thats what it was.

In the Cobalt I have a little trouble with mine because of the winter floor mats preventing full depression of the clutch pedal and it doesn't click at all. Usually clicking means that the signal is getting through (so it's past the clutch interlock), but there's no juice getting through.

Bad gas is a bitch (no pun intended), I had that problem for a while in my Cavi when I lived in Texas. Same thing, the car just would not start and came to find out it was due to watered down gas.

I haven't had any problems with mine either! At my shop I have hardly seen half the problems most people here seem to have, minor stuff thats all! No blown clutches, engines, transmissions or any catastrophe that some Tech somewhere can't figure the hell-out. Besides if it's "bad" news everyone will hear about it, if it's "good" news, why bother say anything?
P.S. If you are getting an audible "click" noise, (without hearing it myself), and it's intermittent, chances are the starter is at fault. The soloniod is getting power, but the starter motor is hitting a dead spot. It will be hard for anyone to fin dthe problem without duplicating it.

Well My 2006 Cobalt SS/SC , sucks been to the dealer 8 times since 11/13/05 , The last trip was 9 days , they replaced the computer and Oxygen sensor . Key wouldnt turn on ( they replaced lock cylinder and left out #5 tumbler Bulliten # PIC3798A
P0171 Lean code , rotated stock filter 180 Degrees per bullitan #
pip3492A Blah Blah , All this and less than 4000 miles .
I have had a Case open since 11/13/05 .

The Dealer ask me ? would you take a brand new Cobalt SS/Sc if we can find it ?

I and said why , so we can start all over . Heck less than 4000 miles I thought mine was new WTF

I told them ,the only GM i would take was a GTO .

They ( GM Cutomer service ) called me 3 times today asking about my car and if it was fixed . I said you'll be the first to know if it's not

Mine actually started after the outside temperature went up some. They said it was a battery issue....BUT... the low battery caused some kind of f@cked up electrical problem somewhere. First time I've ever heard that one. If GM does buy mine back it's not really a big loss to them...I'm gonna try my luck with a victory red 06 SS.SC with the G85 option and see if the bugs are gone.

If turning the wheeel had an effect the ignition switch might be involved.

That actually is what prompted me to get rid of my Cavi. Battery died. No warning, no nothing. No indication that it was about to go until the day before it went. BUT, that ended up frying the alternator, which killed another battery and shorted out a bunch of electrical crap. Was working on a whoooooole lot of money just to fix what started as a battery problem, so I traded for my SS/SC.

4000 miles and still no problems. I've taken her apart and done some electrical work and still nothing has gone wrong. I couldn't be happier (well, I wish I could have bought the SS/SC, or at least a stick-shift LS ).

*knock on wood*
