yet another broken wheel stud.....
This makes #3 i've had to replace. Thinking about just getting aftermarket wheel studs from ARP or something if it happens again.

Yeah, me and Cer3bral (member on here) were talking about that the other day. We think Chevy is overdoing it with the 100lbt-ft spec. I too have been doing it less than that, but the studs still snap.

wow i dunno wth u guys are doing to be breaking that many studs maybe its the way u guys are torqueing it..what kinda torque wrench style do u guys use?...the click type is the easiest

its because they use an air impact wrench....
never snaps without it. Ive never personally snapped one. Its just when they use the air gun.
They wanted to charge me 150.00 to replace one and i told them to go **** themselves. They paid for it.

Even with hubcentrics Ive still snapped studs. If you are using aftermarket lug nuts thats another problem too. They eat up the threads on the studs. Ive gone through like 8 studs...so now its stock studs/stock lug nuts at 100ft lbs.
Most american vehicles have been using 100ft lbs for years and years...I dont think chevy is over rating it.

just wondering if anyone has gone with aftermarket studs, cause i have had it with these studs breaking for no damn reason. I have lost count on how many that have broken. and it seems to be the front and never the rear. also seems to be mostly the front driver side. I'm thinking of contacting gm and see if there been any reported problems with these.
And no i dont over torque these and i only hand tighten these, never use a impact wrench or airguns.
So any updates you guys have would be good. thanks

that is why i am asking? these have been breaking on my car since i bought this car in 2005. stock rims and aftermarket rims. and always hand tightned never use a impact wrench. So you tell me why are they so weak? and i dont beat on my car either.
