popping noise in rear of car
hi i have a 2010 cobalt ss and for some reason the car has made a popping noise since about 2 months after i bought it. The noise started at 6,000 miles and I currently have 12,600 miles. I bought the car in april of this year. The noise would occur at either low or high speeds. After several trips to the dealer they decided it was the rear seat panel on the drivers side that made the noise. The panel did no good as it still occurred so finally i took it to another dealer and they found the noise that it made at high speeds (it was wires in the headliner that had come loose), they taped the wires back up. BUT i still have the noise at lower speeds like if i turn into my subdivision or if i go over small bumps and stuff like that. Any idea what it could possibly be? My guess is its something small.

tRUNK MONKEY?
In all serious, if it sounds like someone tapping on your trunk while sitting still, it is the evap vent valve by the gas tank most likely. Common on cobalts. It's not bad, it's just venting.
As for going over bumps it's probably suspension related.
