Power steering NHTSA investigates
#77
Got my PS motor replaced yesteday, doesn't feel any different. My GF got the PS motor on her LT sedan replaced a couple days ago.
The new motor is noisier in both of our cars, it almost sounds like fabric rubbing together when you turn the wheel back and forth. Weird...
But whatever, now they're both fixed...

At the dealer getting mine fixed as we speak, soon I'll hopefully be power steering problematic FREE!!! Glad there was a recall... Don't feel like spending money on the manufacturer's issue lol.

I just got a second letter in the mail. Its notable that it doesn't make mention of any wait for parts; it just says call the dealer for an appointment.
There's also a claim form for reimbursement for those who already paid to get this fixed. In my case, I'm submitting a claim for $189 for the new motor I bought in october of 2009 (maybe I should add on a half-hour for my time?). Meanwhile the letter can stay in my glove compartment in case my new motor fails too. I'm not going to replace it (or bring it in for the recall) unless it does (safety recalls never expire). I figure I'm good for the next 80,000 miles or so.
